Hi,
Last november (24th) I purchased a Belkin Wireless G network adaptor card from OCUK. Since installing it in my new PC I have had nothing but trouble with the thing. Random and frequent disconnects from the internet have occured since day one and now the final straw... it refuses to connect to my router and despite many attempts to fix this the problem persists.

I have removed it from the PC and re-installed it, re-installed the drivers, tried updating the drivers amd tried various different settings but to no avail. The PC is in the same room as my router, there are no other physical boundries that may be blocking the signal or interference from other wireless devices.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this?

Have u tried just setting the channel to manual on the card and router?

Thanks for your replies. How do I set the channel on the card and router?

I currently have it connected via ethernet, however the room its in is not the intended room, I have to move it in here to see if it would fix it, but it hasnt. I want to get it wireless again so I can put it back in the other room.

I would try and stick with cable if you could, i use wireless on my laptop and i often get frequent disconnections for no apparent reason.
Also why smash up your pc when its the wireless card at fault.........? Just smash the wireless card instead :P

Well it just makes me really angry. I mean its not like I'm asking much, just stay connected to the router. My girlfriends laptop has a wireless card in it and its always connected, never a problem.

Oh well, I'll give a netgear card a go and see what happens.

Thanks anyway.

Just for a minute try the belkin card without any encryption, it'll probably work. Belkin are the biggest pile of crap ever, i've had nothing but problems with them

I find the belkin stuff very temperamental regarding the drivers. You may have to remove all traces of the drivers/software that it came with. turn off. Remove card. Turn on and install drivers + software. turn off. Install card and check the aerial is secure. Turn on and enter settings.

Is a pain but worth trying it again for one last go.

Its a Sagem router that Sky sent me.

Thanks for your suggestion Quackers, turning off encryption is something I haven't tried yet. I've now done that and restricted access to the router to mine and my g/f's mac addresses only. I'll see how it goes, hopefully it'll help stop the disconnections until I can replace the card, I wouldnt want encryption turned off as a long term solution.

I've also changed the channel from auto to channel 2 on the router and cards, as seaniboy suggested above.

I would try a higher channel like 9 or something. The problem is other devices can sit on the lower channels like phones which is what causes problems with automtic selection.

I know this isnt very helpful but if you want a decent connection I recommend you purchase some netgear stuff.

amen to that.

I used to have aload of Belkin stuff but it really was crap. I've now got nothing but netgear and hadly have any problems.

I know it doesn't help you now in your situation, but hey.

A lot of people have been saying that. OCUK says its okay to send the card back, so maybe I'll do that and get a netgear card.

just a couple of questions, is it a USB or a PCI adaptor? and how cluttered is it around the aerial (eg wires, cables etc)?

I had to move my pc due to xmas tree taking its place :( So I bought a Belkin wireless card to avoid cables going all over the place.
What a pile of poo, it would only connect for 5-10 mins and then would drop the connection and if I dared download anything it would die instantly.
Did the whole driver thing and then sent it back for a refund.
My laptops and even my phone connect rock solid !

Throw the Belkin card in the bin and set it on fire. They're absolutely terrible. I had a lot of bother with mine randomly disconnecting from the internet and locking the computer up. The best thing I ever did was change it.
