As per title.

My 12V Power Devil cordless drill of justice is (predictably) totally rubbish. I want a new one for my birthday, and I want to know what to ask for.

I need something better than my existing pile of gay, preferably with 2 batteries. I've seen Einhell (probably rubbish), Erbauer (look ok, but can't find any good deals outside eBay - cookie to anyone that does), Ryobi (most don't come with batteries at this price).

I'm not bothered whether it has a hammer function or not, because my el cheapo Power Devil hammer drill of death™ is actually rather good for what I use it for, and refuses to die.

So spec away!

Cheers, good find.

I'm sure I saw that one when looking earlier, but didn't jot it down. It looks like it's from their decent range aswell so I'll likely go for that unless there are any better offers out there (looks unlikely so far).

That Bosch could be OK, the batteries are only 1.5ah so wont last very long at all.

Makita would probably be your best bet but they start at around £100.

Erbaur aren't very good at all, it would be better than a power devil though. Never heard of Einhell but they sound rubbish.

Unless you find a VERY good deal, you'll be hard pushed to find a Makita with more than one battery for any where near £60. I think you just have to rule them out.
I think 1.5ah batteries will be just fine though.

Yeah a 14.4v Mak starts at around £100 it seems and even then they have 1.5ah batts :(. They should be fine for DIY I'm just used to my 3 ah batts that still run out too fast.

I think that Bosch is a good deal, should be better than Erbauer.

My dads been using a 12v model, the model before that for over 2 years now with no problems. He uses it for work and gives it a fair bit of stick so they're decent drills. You could always get another battery later on if you need one, but with a 30 min charger it'll probably be fine for DIY work.

Ive also heard good things about Bosch so it might be worth waiting for someone to comment on that model if they have used one. But i think whichever you choose for your price range you cant go wrong with either one.
