I keep reading people put their tv's in movie or standard modes. I find the colours a lot more muddier and the picture overall less sharp in both these modes.

Anyone else running in dynamic or is it just me? Also sharpness I think should be on 50. Some people say put it to 0, but i'm sure this softens the picture. I think 50 is in the middle and is the real zero.

I did used to use the dynamic setting but found that it can overexadurate colours, the only modes i use now are standard, gaming and movie as for the sharpness i like to keep that low, 20 would be the max for me.

Standard & 20 here & it looks Mint, Only had it 3 days though so what the **** do I know :p

Took me ages to egt it perfect for me. Samsung LE37M86BD

This is what I have it for, for SD Sky through HDMI
Mode - Standard
Contrast - 90
Brightness 50
Sharpness 40
colour 51
COlour tone 51
backlight 7
Colour space - wide
Digital NR - off
DNIe - on
Movie plus - off

Detailed setup
Black adjust - medium
Dynmaic adjust - medium
Gamma - 0
Edge enhancment - off.

Although I expect it varies a lot between tv's even if it's the same model.

Standard all the way.

Popular opinion seems to be to set contrast high (80+), brightness around 30-40 and all gimmicky options (dynamic contrast, black adjust, etc.) turned off. Then adjust to suit - personally I like black adjust on low for my TV and have dynamic contrast on for my Wii as it gives the image a bit more 'pop' :)

Generally (for my Samsung LE40M86BD) people will tell you to put it in Movie mode cause it gives a more life-like picture. Dunno how well it translates to other models, but it is always recommended for this set.

I use game mode for xbox, should try those settings above really for other viewing. Although I think pes needs tweaking too as game mode looks crap

Game mode has no adjustment on a656

Game mode tends to lock down the settings so you can only change certain limited settings. Better using Movie mode and tweaking the settings to suit. Because I spent over a grand on my Samsung, I went to the expense of buying a sensor to calibrate my set by software as opposed to using my eyes.

I was trying to find something like that the other day. You got any info on the sensor?

I use game mode to cut down input lag aswell, not purley for the picture

i wish there was a way to alter settings in game mode... its neccessary to cut out the input lag but game mode frankly looks crap. way too bright, way too sharp and washed out colours. i dont understand why they have looked out really basic settings :/

When I connected my PC to my LE32R87BDX, some 720p files look good but other appear too orange. How do two files look completely different when they are the same file type with the same picture settings? I don't want to have to change the contrast, etc everytime I want to play different movies.

Are there any ways to fix this?

Thanks.

less processing = lower input lag. Thats why, basically.
