GPU cards squealing

Interestingly mine squealed when i forgot to plug the 6pin cord back into mine!


really really loud squealing!!!
 
I installed a 280 gtx last night. It makes a slight noise when heavily loaded. I suspect as everyone says its just the capacitors on all cards. Possibly a stronger PSU will reduce this, but not sure.
 
MInes only squealed during the 3D Mark Benchmark with 2 beeps on the load....fine! Though my card has duff ram so I cant say much :D lol
 
In the case of my 280-OC it only squeals when the framerate goes really really high. Throw 100% load on it with a seriously maxed out game/benchmark, so it only does 30 or 40 fps despite being near to meltdown, and it's quiet as a lamb. Give it something simple to do, where it can get up to a couple of hunderd FPS and it squeals it's dangly bits off....even if not on full load due do other components bottlenecking.

So basically, for the 280, anyone not delusional enough to think that 100 fps looks better than 90 on a 60fps screen, will put vsync on where possible, and have a quiet and much longer-lived card.
 
Odd... My 4870X2 Squeals a little when scrolling web pages/documents.
At least I think its the card...

Judging by the link should this not be happening to 4870X2s?
