Water bill seems a little... excessive?

Lived in a 1 bed flat, alone from 1st September 2007 till 30th May 2008. The water bill from United Utilities was £167.07, just the water bill, nothing else. Does that not seem a little high to you?

I didn't have baths or stand in the shower for hours, it just seems like a large amount and I don't know whether to call shenanigans or just pay it.

Thoughts?

Ours is about 90 semi annually for a 2 bed and I wash the car etc so yes it does seem a bit high. Did they read the meter? I suspect a leak if they did

Is your water on a meter or is that just the standard charge?

That sounds normal to me. Rates + meter is about £22 a month for me.

I think mine is £380 a year for a one bedroom flat so no yours isn't high.

Yup, £23 a month here, 2 adults in modern (metered) 3bed semi.

In perspective, compared to the OP's bill, ours would be £207 for nine months.

It's about right.

Also, very few houses are metered for water, so whatever you use makes no difference. You're paying a flat fee.

£18 a month is pretty good I'd say

We pay £30 a month unmetered, which is lucky as there's between 4-5 of us having showers every day, using the washing machine etc

My bill for a 1-bed flat was £230 for September 08 to March 09, unmetered. So yours sounds fine to me.

I would like a bill like that ...... think mine works out to 47 quid a month (not metered).

If Severn Trent have their way they will be adding a bigger charge to anyone who has a tarmac drive as its their fault we get flooded down this way!!
