Hi guys, I have a sony 32v4000 which I have plugged my PC into.

The graphics card I am using is a 7900gto - but when the picture is on the screen it looks quite awful.

For example, the forums look a terrible color and nothing looks right in general. I was wondering if someone had the same TV would be able to help me in getting it right by telling me exactly how they have their TV set.

Also - is there anything that I can do in the nvidia control panel?

Cheers guys :)

Go over to home cinema if nobody can assist in here. I don't know if I can help with the specific requirements of the GPU but on mine (using a samsung) I had to connect the pc to hdmi2 which alleviated the need for the tv to do any processing etc (so it is effectively acting as a monitor).

Edit: Also noted your set has hdmi pc signal input capability along with 15 pin Dsub. The former being the most important.
Apologies if I am way-off with the advice.

Ahhhh, ok, cheers, sounds good :)

What cable are you using to connect with?

If you're using the composite or svhs, don't expect much

You may get away with component (720p) but with a 15pin or a DVI would be better if supported by the TV

Im using VGA , DVI isnt on the TV. Maybe HDMI may be better?

That could probably be why. Definately use the HDMI since you don't have DVI or unless your HDMI is already used by somehting else, though maybe you could always get a port switch or something. The Digital signal should be much clearer than VGA.

If you're connecting with VGA then it should look ok. What resolution are you using?

It looks like it support 1280 x 768 via the PC input
Also needs to be 60Hz and not interlaced

I not used vga on my hdtv for quite awhile as it is dodgy, but i get a better picture with dvi to hdmi than component for the internet.
Also it looks a lot better at the tv's native res.

not got the exact tv but the 40v4000 and i connect mine up using HDMI and it looks quality.

only thing i get stuck with is sound not coming out!

To my delight , I have found a dvi - hdmi adapter and am using the hdmi cable from my ps3 and the picture looks great! Really happy with it now, and to think I was going to spend £120 on a gfx card to fix the problem! :D

Thanks to all those who helped, although I still cant understand why it looked terrible through vga?

Can't quote as on phone but magicroundabout try the following-

Goto control panel -> sound -> playback devices and change default to hdmi (think it says something about digital as well) them open up am application to playback. If you have an app open (wmp for example) before changing the output than it will come out of your previous default.

Thats works for me,though then means ALL sound comes from tv, however if it does work it then means sound over hdmi is working ok :D

Analogue signal and maybe the VGA port or the cable itself was duff? Or you had to calibrate the settings? Either way, at least its all working fine now.

The card has to convert the digital signal to analogue and send it to the LCD, the LCD has to convert the analogue to digital signal and display it, converting twice can reduce the IQ.
