Hello all,

Been out of the gaming seen for ages, recently purchased a Wii which has once again sparked an interest but satisfying the hunger!

I am swaying towards a 360 due to price, range of games and can imagine gaming online with fellow colleagues.

However I am concerned with recent discussions with street fighter 4 and the performance of the 360 joypad? street fighter would be a big title for me and would like to enjoy that at its best.

Is the joypad that bad??

Or should i go for the PS3 and get blue-ray and a 'better' joypad?? But pay the extra £100 pounds or so for the pleasure??
 
I'd get a 360, some quality games available both recent and old.

Then at a later date I would get a PS3, I got mine free with a mobile deal after much deliberation.

Or you could do it the other way round.

Thankyou for that, but my question is whether the 360 joypad is that bad for beat em ups?

As if it is then i will get a PS3 to for go the above, as i want something that i will enjoy playing games like street fighter 4.

I really do not want to own both or buy the 360 to sell at a later date to get a PS3.
 
There's pluss's and minus's. The 360 controller is arguably better per se. especially with fps but does suffer from a poorer d-pad hence the street fighter criticism. Having said this I wouldn't call it a deal breaker (the giant bomb guys discussed it on the latest pod cast and were reasonable happy) as if one was really serious you'd get a dedicated fighting stick.

Both consoles have some great exclusives so look at what games you fancy and go for it.

I can only speak for myself though. I've had a 360 since 2005, I've never been bored, I've now got a great bunch of mates to play with regulrly and there's plenty on the horizon to keep me happy.
 
360 imo. Ive not had a console since the Mega Drive II and I just recently bought the 360 after getting fed up with pouring money down the PC hole with no real good end results i.e GTA4

In a well known high street store they are doing some good deals on 360 right now. 360 Premium + GOW 1&2 + FC2 for £189 fantastic stuff !
 
whats wrong with the 360 pad?
so many praise it(not me:p).


hard choice...i do like psn and the cheap games on it.
but the bigger games i play on the 360.

If you feel that way about 360, You should get it.

The only downside you've stated is the 360 pad, and yes it is that bad unfortunately, it's the D-pad. But with the £100 you would save in not getting the PS3 you can get one of the official Street Fighter 4 Joysticks, Which look amazing. :)
 
Is there anything (games wise) exclusive on the PS3 that you really want? How important is the BD Player to you? Those are the key differences so if the answer is no get the XBox I'd say for the price.

Nothing exclusive on PS3 that draws me there - is more about the hardware: it terms of 'better joypad'? and blue ray.

Must admit im not a big fan of blue ray; however the blue-ray maybe something that would swing it for the missus!

Like wise i do have an old PS2 can i play these games on the PS3?
 
I just saw a BR player for sale for £92 and its only gonna get cheaper and cheaper. I really wouldnt make BR the deciding factor. end of the day sounds like to me you want it to game so base it on that.
 
I think guys you have helped me to decide - 360 it will be.

Just need to find a good deal that out there, now and eagely await the street fighter release!
 
I definitely cost in a fighting stick - sounds like youve got your heart set on SF4 so youd be mad not to get one.

The PS3 pad is passable for beat em ups - the 360 isnt Im afraid, especially if thats your main usage it seems.
