I already have:

Sorry for no the specific names :P

Right basically I have a budget of £500 a little more wont matter but only a little :)

Here is what I have got so far, if anyone knows of any different components I could take please do feel free to give advice and/or different builds I could buy, I just want the best what I can buy for the budget as everyone does!

Hey,

Thanks for the reply and yes I do play a lot of games, but mainly Counter Strike Source and there is a lot of problems with ATI cards and that game, but only due to the detail of the new ATI cards i.e. dark spots are VERY dark. However there are also in-game commans to alter this too.

I would much prefer ATI or Nvidia but it's definately what I'm going to be looking into a little more with the CSS thing.

dont get that board, either fork out little extra for the pro version which has much better layout or get a gigabyte, which would mean it wouldnt matter about the RAM. And agree re gfx card, youre better off with a 4850/4870. You could also get better performance with a high end C2D like E8500, if you only play games this is much better, if you do any sort of encoding/editing/modelling etc then stick with the quad, but if not go C2D the E8500 is same price or you could save money and get something like E7400 and clock it back up

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the response, what I have found out so far that is I should go to either 4850/70, change mobo or upgrade and RAM depending on the mobo choice. Looking into some new components then :)

Awesome thank you will,

Looked into the spec you gave me, I couldn't believe the price which I saw :O, however then I noticed for some reason the Q6600 you linked was a different price to what I'm seeing it as O.o, but great upgrade on mobo :) glad you guys told me about the pro version, thanks and I'm still looking into this!

Expect a new post of new hardware questions soon

9800GTX will do CSS fine :) I get 270fps+ on my 9800GT according to Fraps.

Hey again guys,

Well I looked into people's comments and remarks and now I have come up with a new set-up, what do you think about this now people? Gone a little over budget but I can handle that :).

P.S. Also noticed your Q6600 item now Will :) OEM instead of Retail, nice one :)

You dont need PC2-8500 speed ram, unless you're going for real high overclocks. Some decent PC-6400 will be fine, and will cost you half the price.

Hello there, I recently built my new system as below in my sig. I spent a bit extra and went for the P5Q Pro as I read it will be better if you decide to overclock a bit later. I went for Corsair PC6400 4GB DDR2 RAM (it was on This Week Only offer for like £35!), as you don't really need PC8500. I went for a Radeon 4850 rather than a 9800GTX+, as well as a Freezer 7 Pro (30-32C idle and 36C load).

Finally I went for a E8400 Duo (found it cheap elsewhere) rather than a Q6600 Quad, and it runs CSS and Left 4 Dead like a dream.

Just my input. Hope you find it useful :)

As you gonna get CPU cooler, why spend more on retail ones? Altough i bought retail ones and decided getting CPU cooler as well, well the warranty on retail ones longer i think :)

Get 4GB Corsair XMS2 PC6400 and use the change to get P5Q Deluxe mobo, solid board and excellent overclockers :D

Hey people, I'm back!

I will now be officially ordering my PC end of the week and this is what my final set-up is going to be :).

I think everything is compatible according to all of your very helpful advice and I should have a semi-decent rig :).
