Hi all,

I'm currently trying to extend my PC (spec below) extended desktop to my Panasonic TV. I can use Windows media player but for some reason media player classic seems to freeze when i attempt to load a movie.

Can anyone advise?

Sounds like a codec problem if you've multple codec packs installed then try uninstalling some of them.

Also use media player classic home cinema as that is actually updated unlike the orginal software which hasnt been touched in 18 months.

I've never really liked MPC (Homecinema) - always found it buggy and very 'clunky'. Maybe give WMP11 or VLC a go, they work a lot better IMO :)

If you want to stick with MPC try either installing MPCHC as suggested above, or reinstall/update your codecs.

I've never had any problems with it. Works great for me. Once you turn off all the internal filters/codecs it works just as good as any other player.

Didn't realise you could turn them off, my fault for not looking through the options properly :p

One thing that always annoyed me with MPCHC is the way it would increase the volume almost to the stage where it'd start crackling and sounding horrible. I'll turn the filters off and see how it goes :)

Yes you can turn off the filters. In doing so, it uses the default system filters, which for me are CoreAVC for h2.64, ffdshow for divx/xvid/avi and AC3filter to send 5.1 audio to my amp

Works a charm.

Thanks guys - it's actually working now lol, although i havn't tried it with any mkv 720p rips - just low res TV episodes. Can anyone advise how to turn the filters off?
