They are working fine here on our test rig with one of these Sapphire cards in.

give this a miss i think... ati drivers are too buggy...
just past experience.![]()
Shame its sapphire. wanted another Powercolor version for a 2nd card. (to match my 1st)
Oh well mabe next time![]()
hearing things like this put me off big time getting my 4870 but i'm so glad i did get one.
Not one single problem with my card and it runs faultless.
My main concern (apart from spending £170 on a toy I don't really need, obviously) is noise. My current card has a Zalman VF-900Cu on a fan controller and I doubt if the cooler on this card is as quiet as that. The loudest thing in my PC is the Noctua NH-U12F cooler, and that bugs me despite being quiet.
Obsessed? Me?
Well, maybe a bit![]()
Is the cooler easy to remove to remove thermal gunk and apply MX-2?

So if you've got a capable mobo then you could cross/tri-fire![]()
This card looks exactly like the rev. 2 512MB model as it has the exact same cooler.
I found it extremely easy to disassemble and clean up. Way easier than my previous GTX 280 which was a nightmare.
Ok guys, quick test using Furmark.
HIS standard card = Idle 72 while quite noticeable, 77 under load making a noise
Sapphire aftermarket cooler = Idle 40 silent, 92 load while at the same noise level as the HIS.
Now if only something similar applied to a 4870X2. I'd snap one up.
Sapphire will work fine with your Powercolor.![]()
