Easy's Home Cinema Film Choice opening night thread

Cut Throat Island
(Early Dolby Digital demo reference title) The scene with the horse chase and the cannons on the boats firing.

you cant recommend a really crap film just because it has good sound. At least recommend Master and Commander - great film and great cannons!

hehe just got Sunshine (not everyone will like the film) but the video and audio are superb

PS still waiting for Gattaca non import blu ray

Sunshine was my first HD viewing and i enjoyed it.

Gattaca is a good film but i can't see HD adding anything to it though really

Is there going to be a "What flavour Pringles should Easyrider eat on the first night?" thread as well? If so may I reccommend Paprika? ;)

I have been building a home cinema recently and decided on The Dark Knight as the first film followed by the Fifth Element. I am then getting a few friends round to watch Apocalypse Now as this was the first film we watched when I got my first surround system many years ago.

Transformers and Iron Man are good aswell also I Robot has a superb picture on its blu-ray transfer these will be getting watched after the above.

no no no Pringles Select Chilli :)

Just had my own boys cinema night, I wanted Mad Max 2 on HD-DVD and got overruled and we all watched Transformers. Fantastic HD advert. My son complained about the sub keeping him awake!

I can when i suggest spend an evening testing and going through movie segments to appreciate/tune the sound before giving it a proper unveiling with friends or family.

If anything many movies are purchased for actual audio/visual scenes rather than the movie being a great film.

It has to be The Matric... one film that I can watch time and time again and still go "ooohhh". ******* awesome.

Oh and as someone else said, Star Wars has been broadcast in HD before. :D
