Hey everyone,

I noticed a couple of days ago O2 broadband was running at about 100kB/s nationwide due to a broken fibre optic cable. I have full ADSL2 speed during the night, was dissapointed to check netmeter there to see that I'm only getting 400kB/s during the day, usually I'm not here though.

Was wondering how many OCUK members have O2 broadband. For £9/month = 16mb I'm pretty happy at that, and there havent been many issues, just speed problems lately?

I'm assuming it'll improve as they get their network back in shape?

I'm on Be Unlimited who are owned by, and use the same network as, O2 and I'm getting 10031kbps (which is about the max my line supports).

Are you sure the problem isn't localised to your exchange being congested?

Um, on O2, but 8meg package. Haven't noticed any speed decrease while browsing, haven't needed to download a anything big for ages though so donno.

im not complaining. i got free o2 broadband with mobile phone contract renewal. speeds are excellent - its the be service.

I'm on Be Unlimited (which as mentioned before is the same network as O2) and I'm currently on 15431 kbps - don't seem to have any speed changes between peak and off-peak times.

I'm on O2, same package as you. Get the full 16 meg here... haven't really noticed any slowdowns. Your exchange is probably a little overstretched, there's nothing you can really do unfortunately.

I sync at 24 down with Be* (only plus point of living in a town centre).

They have been having problems in the North West with re-routing traffic due to a problem on the network in Manchester. It has affected various parts of their network so pings and speeds have been varied for a while now. It was really bad the other day but it's acceptable for me now.

Should this be in Networks?

My Virgin line only ever runs at 125kb/s day in, day out, and that's with one of their non-broken, super-duper "fastest cables in whole wide world" jobbies. Wish I could change to someone better, lol.

I have noticed this too, and I live in sheffield. Download speeds barely even reach 250kb/s during peak times though! (and I normally hit 1600kb/s)

Where do you people live, next door to the exchange?

Yeah must be my particular exchange then. Glasgow city centre btw. I saw on some O2 forums about a significant network issue that was nationwide and people getting slow peaktime speeds. Good to see quite a lot of people are unaffected, I'm happy with the service, it just turned on me the last few days I'm sure it'll improve.

disconnections, anymore than 1 disconnect per month is way too much, i simply will not tolerate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ive got £9.99 month and 16meg

here are the exact modem details!

Uptime: 0 days, 0:34:51
Modulation: G.992.5 Annex M US 56
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 697 / 10,445

34 minutes is ***** filth, upstream should be around 1000, but it changes, i can hear a bit of static on my line, it should go away though

in your browser type

o2wirelessbox.lan PASTE !!

My service has been decreasing recently, so i phoned up yesterday and they reset my noise margins, was getting much improved speeds and less ping.. but alas it ended up with 2 much errors and dropped out again so back down a wee bit.

Where do you live? I easily get >1mb/sec on faster servers, I'm up Crookes-direction on School Road.

Crookesmoor, I'm on the broomhill exchange. At the moment we're getting the usual speeds... 1.6mb/s...but come about 6pm it'll drop down to about 250kb/s! :(

Easy way to tell if it's congestion; Check your router to see what the sync rate is, if the sync rate is quite a bit higher than the speed test results it's likely to be congestion.

Either way, wrong forum.
