UK's LOWEST PRICE - Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 GFX Card - £144.99 +VAT

Its fine, I stopped the fan and the card went to 104 and didnt artifact under Furmark.

Furmark can kill cards, the GTX 280 between 2x 295 this week proves this. :D

The Fans not Much good if it only drops 12C when running.......LOL, Chose You words carefully My friend quite a few people around here will not understand correctly that You have posted figures for a Torture/stability Test, not typical gaming loads ;)

Your not reading me correctly either, the fan was not running at full speed hence it only going up by 12deg. As I said if you set a more aggressive fan profile you could keep the card much cooler. ;)

If the card is stable and under warranty, who cares! :D

Mine's just been shipped \o/ hopefully get here tomorrow, gotta spend saturday moving my mates stuff to a new house though so won't be able to get to play till sunday, but play I shall :)

If you had two would it keep the temps down therefore be quiter since there isnt as much stress on each GPU .. or does it not really work like that?

i've the 512 version of this card and was cecking my temps the otherday and after 2 hours of solid MOH Airborne playing my temps were at the high 50's with fan speed running @ 40%.

how come yours reaches almost 100deg

He stopped the fan.

Thats a great price and its really tempting even though I have the 512mb version...

Ok guys, quick test using Furmark.

HIS standard card = Idle 72 while quite noticeable, 77 under load making a noise
Sapphire aftermarket cooler = Idle 40 silent, 92 load while at the same noise level as the HIS. (I recon if you did a custom fan profile and set the card to high fan speed you could keep the temp down)

The actual temperature of the card does not really matter that much, but both are well within safe limits.

I would take the Sapphire out of the two cards without a shadow of a doubt, so much quieter at idle.

i keep my fan on 40% and i've never gone anywhere near 90deg

I am running furmark with no driver throttling, this program WILL kill graphics cards if you want it to. :o

Yup, that makes a difference when the program in question is locked out of the Catalyst Driver for a reason.

Your fan is running, it makes a massive difference and you are also not stressing your card to anywhere near the same levels.

Furmark in a minute will stress the card further than an overnight Crysis session will.

there's goes this month's pay already

now to go and sell the 512mb one thats sat in my rig. Goddamn GTA IV, grumble grumble, moan moan............
