***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

On my last game i was playing with some random people against most OcUK guys. Was chatting away most of the game then at the end noticed my mic was not plugged in lol :confused: Thought i was just being ignored.

Funny at the start when 3 of you guys jumped over the edge and just before you could get rescued i had a smoker and grabbed the last person!!! Lol You had a grand total of 3 points that stage!! LOL :D

LOL, it was rubbish that first round; me and Buckz were the only people on the server so we were just messing around shooting each other; then some others arrived and suddenly started playing properly. Insta-death soon followed :mad::D
 
Total homosexual gayness, just had another two versus games with you lot and was on the losing team both times. So far this week I have played ten games and won one.

I think the more I play this game the worse I get :(

Don't blame yourself, since the update there have been lots of problems with the AI director doing their job. Hoards aren't properly being generated to stop 'quick passes' through maps, as many teams do. The Hunter does get really glued on to people now from pounces. The smoker is in huge need of improvement to make it more viable. The boomer exploding in front of survivors and not coating them is another issue. Tank spawn issues in cut off areas seem to be occurring too. So...the infected have it tough at the moment. Good thing the 'joinclass' exploit is fixed though.
 
They really need to implement a system whereby the winning team always tackles the level first as survivors. Survivors going second always know where the tank is, and always end up raping it.
 
Hunters are glued? You mean they don't get bashed as often when some 'randomly' melees in a direction and manages to stop them from pouncing? That's a good thing, you have to aim the melee towards the hunter now to stop them.

And to get them off, shoot or melee.

And why does the smoker need to be more viable....Out of all the classes if played rite, it can last the longest because it isn't in direct view of the survivors (unless people pull the survivors while standing in the open =/)

Boomers, boomers boomers boomers....The bile thing is annoying, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't....I've had numerous times when ive jumped slightly infront of a survivor with a shotgun gun, only to be killed in the air (Note: literally as high as a boomer can jump...about 2 foot) and not cover any of the survivors only being less than a meter away.

I've not had too many issues with the Tank lately I don't think....Can't say I've really spawned somewhere where you can't actually get to the survivors.
 
There are bugs involved where you can shoot a hunter from pretty much point blank range with a completely clip from the assault rifle and it won't die. You are correct a bash will always usually work, however this is sometimes not possible if you've been recently boomed on.

Smokers are my favourite infected class and pulling a survivor away from a fortified area is one of the most useful techniques to an infected team. However it's widely recognised the damage inflicted is usually minimal prior to a survivor being freed. Rarely will a lone smoker do much to worry the survivors. Valve have already added improvements with the tongue being unbreakable until survivors are being 'dragged'. Also the tongue length increase & better lock on, but I'm sure you'll agree this isn't working much.

The tank spawning I mentioned occurs for example in the street level of No Mercy, while survivors are in the ammo room upstairs. It's extremely difficult to reach that area from the street before survivors scarper. I play most of my games with the Halflife2.net community where I work and those people play religiously. They know what 'that' music means :)
 
I noticed one “bug” where if you have the autoshotty for example and run the magazine down to zero you’d have to wait while you reload or just gun butt if there’s a hord.

However. I found out the other day if you initiate a reload the after the first reload just keep gun butting zombies your shotty will continue reloading even though you’re not reloading but in fact gun butting!

Makes for a useful way to keep fighting hords whilst low on ammo then get back to shooting them.
 
Well, I'm happy with the smoker, as it now does damage while it's pulling people away from the pack, which was on of my main gripes with it, that and the tongue breaking pointlessly.

Which is also now fixed.
 
I noticed one “bug” where if you have the autoshotty for example and run the magazine down to zero you’d have to wait while you reload or just gun butt if there’s a hord.

However. I found out the other day if you initiate a reload the after the first reload just keep gun butting zombies your shotty will continue reloading even though you’re not reloading but in fact gun butting!

Makes for a useful way to keep fighting hords whilst low on ammo then get back to shooting them.

Yep :) I always do it.

If it was removed, it would most certainly make the game more entertaining in horde onslaughts :p

The boomer is the most annoying when moving. You cant move and puke which is wrong. Most people are moving towards the toilet when puking. :eek:

My other problem is when you try and use the smoker through fire, it doesnt work. It would be nice if it at least grabbed them for a while.

Hmm....I've never had an issue of pulling them through the fire, however they do not get set alight...Which I feel should be rectified.
 
Does anyone know how to change the crosshairs of the gun, like in CSS you could typle CL_crosshairscale *

No idea what it is like though...Obviously changing the values to what you want.

EDIT: You can change the colours as well apparently...

There are a few cvars that you can use to customise your crosshair.

cl_crosshair_alpha : This will mod the crosshair's transparency. 0 = Invisible 255 = Full

cl_crosshair_red : 0 - 255

cl_crosshair_green : 0 - 255

cl_crosshair_blue : 0 - 255

This is your standard RGB scheme. "255 115 0" would give you something orange'ish.

cl_crosshair_dynamic : 1 - 0

This will make your crosshair stop matching with your weapon's average accuracy.

cl_crosshair_thickness : 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5

I still find the smoker a very fiddly class, and whilst i'd love to believe it's me being ratarded rather than issues with the mechanics, i just cant help but notice the sheer number of times survivors dont get gripped with a "red crosshair".

Boomer move and puke might not be viable though, since then you'd be in a situation where you might be able to cover a whole group wheras before you'd only get the 1. It might create too much of an advantage, even in very few situations.
 
I find people only moan about the boomer not puking when moving (me in otherwirds) is when you go to rush, and attempt to stop in time before they come round the corner...however it doesn't puke, it just starts to make the noise.

Don't mind, just means to have to play more tactically with the big lump really.

If so, do you have a Soundblaster X-Fi?

My computer did that (only in Vista), to fix it I updated my sound drivers, graphics drivers, lowered the memory pool from High to Medium and set the computer to Borderless Window mode. Hasn't frozen since. (so far...:p) Hope this helps someone...

I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and I really should add my soundcard to my sig - yes it's an X-Fi (Xtreme Music). I will try what you suggest tonight. With yours did the crash only occur in vs. mode?

Yeh man, last night was good. Ended up starting against some OcUK but I think it was mostly randoms at the end except MarkoPolo.

It's true, the voice comms helped loads. Good job you finally have it sorted.

Just makes you wonder back to the times you have been on the losing team; no one talks (except me as always) and there is no organisation or "help im huntered" or whatever is needed.

I think it's really important you communicate with the team if you want to do half well, wether it's using a MIC or having a "Help" bind spammed on your screen (bucks).

So yeah, to all the Rob86's, Buckz's'z'sz' and any other cheapskate mofo who can't afford a £5-10 MIC for L4D - Go buy one!! :)

I HAVE ONE! :) i told you that already :P it's too loud and i cant find where to use it lol :) what's the point of me saying no/yes when i can just do it :P i cant plan tactics for atack :P u r the best at it ;D i've tried using my mic for laugh and and crying for help :P i've even unbinded my help key lol :D
