I have some Falken FK452's (recommended by loads of people) on my leon at the moment and the front 2 are nearly on the marker after 8 months. I only do 10k a year and dont hoon it so im a tad narked. Can anyone suggest anything in 225 45 17 guise for around 100 quid a corner from black circles that will last longer?

The Michelins last forever. I had 225, 45, 17s on my car. Drove them to hell and back. They weren't new when I got the car and they lasted 12k of abuse including nurburgring, stelvio pass, autobahns etc.

edit: meant to say that I now have Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymmetrics. Cheaper (slightly) and better grip but I certainly don't expect them to last as long as the Michelins.

my dad had some dunlop runflats on his 5 that he only just changed. the car was delivered in november 2005 :/

that's completely irrelevant for you, but how about Conti SportContact 3s?
i suspect the michelins will last longer, if an inferior tyre

You must drive even more aggressively than me, my FK452's aren't anywhere near the markers and have done a good 10,000 miles.

Mine is a 52 plate rocking the original rubber.

Rears are starting to get cracked sidewalls so i'll be popping a pair of Toyo CF1's on at some point.

ya, i'd get those changed asap

i was rocking a winter tyre from 2002, until i spun 180 doing 40mph. that promptly went in the bin :p

Why would anyone purposefully chose Toyo CF1's?

Any Toyo tyre that isn't the Proxes usually ends up getting absolutely dire reviews in the independant tyre tests.

They are Proxes. :)

Seem to have good ratings and at £35 a corner from Camskill - can't grumble really.

I tend to try and ignore my tyre wear rate. I really ought to ignore the urge to drive like a breast instead!

Interesting thread though. We'll be needing 4 tyres for the SAAB soon so I want to get some longer lasting ones for it. Don't want any cheap guff mind you.

I meant the Proxes T1-R/S. The rest are rubbish, seriously, do some proper research before you buy them, in the test I read they came second from bottom of about 20 tyres! They seem to be really, really poor tyres which trade off the reputation of the better T1-R/S tyres.

Maybe i'm looking in the wrong places for reviews?

What would you recommend for tyres in 185/55/R14? Doesn't seem to be as much to choose from with smaller diameter wheels.

T1Rs are still a soft compound like the Eagle F1s so you may have the same longevity problems.
