Volvo to return to BTCC with C30s on Biofuel!

I saw that and I'm hoping they make the grid with Mr Plato with a drive. I want him to get another title, plus the run ins with Mr Neal are often fun..

Can only be good news!

Someone persuade them to jump into the WRC too. The Volvo safety car they use to check the stages is a beast. :D

yeh they raced last year. Was a really quiet car. didnt come close to winning lol.

They only raced the first race at Brands last year. They were doing well holding there own in the midfield untill they went off and in the words of the commentators "the car ate some gravel" so they didnt come out in the 2nd race. They always had the intention of bringing the car here, just didnt know it would be a factory team!

The C30 does look well proportioned to fit the S2000 rally rules. Chances of it being in either the IRC or WRC next year?

EDIT: I fail! They raced the WTCC at brands, not BTCC... but either way, good news!

Excellent news. More cars the better :)

Great. More stupid hatchbacks on the BTCC Grid.

I would rather have liked to see the S40 R Design in there instead of a C30 :)

Same as the Mondeo to the Focus. The old skool Mondeos were awesome.

Like most proposed entries in the BTCC, it's still subject to finding a budget and at the moment they haven't got one. These things are often no more than a fishing exercise to find sponsors.

Subject to finding suitable sponsorship, or more correctly it coming and finding me, I propose to run an entry in the BTCC every year myself but it's not happened yet.

i goto every 4 wheel event at brands hatch. i got mixxed up. But either way, they did rubbish in british motorsport.

Not really though. They won the title in 1998 with Rickard Rydell. The team were consistent front runners throughout their BTCC days.

Apart from the outstanding 850 estate they entered in 1994 of course. What a heap! :(

Good news if it happens, but we shall see if the news hits the BTCC main site before to take it seriously! I had heard of Plato and another old boy John Cleland being linked with the project. The former Seat team still have not announced plans and are obviously free to run a new car!

We have some saloon this year, the MG ZS, Toledo, BMW and Vectra all fit. Ok the Focus, Civic and Leons don't but it is about meeting current regulations rather than a car shape.

I think it's pretty amazing that a car based on a 14 year old design (Rover 400) with no factory support at all can still be even slightly competitive. Being a BTC spec car it gets a 25kg weight break this year as well.
