I would like to include monitor but ill get that sooner or later

For now, i have a case, mouse, keyboard, soundcard... thats it :(

Oh and a HDD

the comp in my sig is my old one, it has to top that lol

really need PSU? seems galaxy is fine

what do you do with comp? and why a new monitor, what is wrong with current 24"?

seems like mobo, GFX, additional RAM (if you have vista 64) and CPU upgrade at best

these are the things i need: (sold everything but a few items in my sig)

GPU
PSU
RAM

so fairly easy.

Will be on XP x32, i HATE vista... so, SOOOOOOOO much lol

so no need for quad or over 3gig of ram tbh

Ok, don't mean to rain on anyone's parade here but other than going for dual 295s or 4870x2s there's not a lot of point in upgrading.

What games can't you currently play maxed out?
Unless I'm missing something I can't see you getting more than a few more (possibly unnecessary if already 60+) FPS in most games.

which he can't do with a 32bit OS.. As that would leave him with less than 2gb of ram.

I agree silly mistake selling that stuff.

Yeah, would have been better off with getting an E84/5/600 to 4ghz and dual GTX280's.

Still not much point outside of 30" screens, benchmarks and crysis.

Note: high end gaming

1. 295 is best gfx card out there; however if you plan to run a second card in future you have two options a) 4870x2 and PSU of 800w b) SLI compatible mobo (780 or 790) and PSU of 800w - I recommend the p45/4870x2 route in that case

2. e8400 is E0 and will likely achieve +4ghz OC

3. motherboard is high end P45, think it is worth it for OC

4. PSU is modular and good for either a 4870x2 or gtx295 + C2D OC, but if you wish to add a second card in future then point 1 applies.

5. CPU cooler is great

6. Corsair ram is good, try and find a set without fan, the heatspreads are good and the fan is useless and blocks CPU cooling. 4gb is more than XP can handle, but it will recognize about 3.5 of it

PS; truly recommend you get Vista 64, stop living in dark ages - seriously ridiculous all this v64 bashing, it's getting old. tech moves on. XP64 won't have the driver support v64 has. you could also go back to DOS ;)

Sorry my bad I completely missed your sig, and misread your post, I thought you wanted to build a complete system from scratch for a grand, nvm, geckovich is right, you're not gonna see any osrt of significant gains to justify you spending the money. If its really burning a hole in your pocket and you want to spend I'd suggest looking at things like nice new monitor, kb/mouse, case maybe even a new PSU - all things you can transport to a new rig later down the line. But spending money on new hardware now isnt going to massively effect your gaming experience, hold out til you start to struggle with games then upgrade, by which point point there may be even newer hardware or at least what you're looking to buy now will be cheaper
 
ok, i sold my stuff due to being very close to buggered with the bank at the end of december... so i had to sacrafice.

i cant be bothered with quad or more than 3gb simply because im a xp freak... cant be arsed with the hassle of xp pro x64... i dont understand why everyone seems to be forcing quad these days lol

meh..

as for the builds, lunarwolf's looks fantastic, great OC'ing potention to get rid of that bottlenecking, and a superb gfx card :)
