What connections do i need from my PSU for this MOBO ?

Is it just the 24 pin block or the 4/8 pin block too ?

I see in this pic, The 8 pin block is capped to 4 pins:

Is that the one that people have problems with on a case that has the PSU bottom mounted ?

If you have an 8 pin connector on your psu, remove the cap on the board connector and plug in the 8 pin lead.

As said, you will need to connect a minimum of the 24pin and the 4pin. Virtually all higher quality power supplies will have the power cables long enough to reach from the bottom of a case.

Hoping to use my current PSU on my new rig until next month to keep costs down.

I have the 24 pin and the 4 pin, It's a 570W PSU that i have not long bought, I do plan on buying the Corsair PSU but, It's £80 onto my build that i could hopefully do without until i replenish my funds :D

Looking at it, I might have to buy an extender as i want to put a Thermalright Ultra-120A CPU Cooler in there, Looks like i might struggle so, Would this work ?

Akasa 8-Pin 30cm PSU Extension Cable

Thanks again.

What if i only have a 4 pin connector on my PSU ?

Do i need to buy a new PSU ?

Nope.
I have the regular P5Q and used a 4pin psu and now I have a newer psu with a 8pin on I use that.
Not noticed any difference at all in the running of the computer.

I would assume the 8pin is better at larger overclocks or something??

Thanks man, That's shaved £80 off this build till next month :D

Do you use a bottom mounted PSU ? With a large CPU cooler ?

I'm pretty sure mine either wont reach or will be very tight past the Thermalright 120.

That's the cable you need, yeah. Your current PSU should be fine, but a Corsair is highly recommended when you have the funds.

What manufacturer is the power supply out of interest?

It's a 570W Pro PSU Dual Fan PW-5500

It was a quick purchase from ******s to replace my old one which gave me lots of restarts after installing a X1950 Pro AGP card.

I believe the PCI E 6 pin cable will run a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB in my new rig until i get the Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU.

Thanks for the help, Ready to order tomorrow.
