What is the best air cooler for the q6600 skt 775??
Hey xirokx,

there is no such thing as a best air cooler, it will always be down to what people think is the best! :o

My opinion is that the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme is a fantastic air cooler, that would be my first choice!

Also remember that a good chassis with good cooling will do a lot for your temps as no matter how good a certain air cooler is, it will struggle to control your load temps if stuck in a hot cramped case!

The real nice thing about the TRUE apart from great cooling is its easy to mount (and remount) and its quite easy to attach a 120mm fan (should you need one!).

is this TRUE easy to mount and remount if required?

also I heard I will need seperate 120mmfans, which do you recommend?

Or is that not the case with the extreme TRUE??

I've got the Akasa 965, its cheap @ £8, and you need to be carefull fitting it, 'cos the mounting posts aren't the best, but once its on, it does a great job. I'm running a Q6600@3Ghz idling at 25 degrees, loaded at 38 degrees.
You'll probably find they all cool to similar effect, it seems its build quality you pay for.

The Xigamtek and Sunbeam core contack are very good and the price is right,
The True are also very good but need lapping due to the unevan base and of course cost much more :) my 2 cents

I have also hear and have read reviews stating the Xigmatek is better then the TRUE black and given that you do not require additional fans comes in a lot cheaper..

Performance wise I hear at low and high cpu fan speeds the Xigmatek is also quieter then the TRUE black...

can anyone confirm this?

thanks...

The Core Contact Freezer seems to review better than the Xigmatek. The downside is the Core Contact is pretty big, and like the Tuniq and TRUE requires approximately a heft 15cm of clearance inside the case. It's not small!

If you need something smaller, the Zalman 9500 is approximately 12cm tall, so fits in some cases that the Tuniq etc are that bit too big for. What I'm using at the moment.

i have a lian li pc7 case and believe the Xigmatek will fit perfectly well into the case...

as it comes in nearly 25 quid cheaper then the TRUE black and is quieter aswell as better a cooler I think its fairly obvious what to go for..

Just wanted to hear from Xigmatek owners to get their take on it??

cheers
