What HDTV Are You Using Wiith Your X360 Or PS3?

Sony 40V4000

Was looking at either this or the PZ80. I'd based this on reviews and what I would be using it for. Had been debating which to get for several weeks. Went into Comet, decided on the PZ80. All ready to pay, out of stock for two weeks. That was same for the area I was in too. Saw the Sony there, did a check on that, in stock. Got it there and then. Decided if I didn't buy anything that day I'd be waiting ages to get one.

Not regretted my decision once. Fantastic television. Just need to get Sky HD now and I'll be happy.

Bought a 26" Sony Bravia KDL-26S2010 which cost me £657 delivered from a website in November 2006. Choose it due to:

1. Size was an issue at the time, dimension would fit in the small area I had.
2. Didn't want to spend the £800+ on the 32" models.
3. Response rate 8ms was relatively new.
4. 720p was all I ever needed for this generation of consoles - only ever gaming happens on this screen.
5. The Sony handles upscaling better than most other LCD (particularly at the time).

If I was buying now, I'd probably buy a 32"/37" 720p screen exclusively for gaming. And again I would probably stay with an LCD, over a plamsa. When we need to replace our CRT for daily TV/DVD/BR watching I'd go 1080p and think about the screen a bit more.

Sony 40W2000, because I got a free PS3 when I bought it :p

But it is a great LCD as it handles scaling very well.

far better than people give them credit for, IMO.

i use a panasonic 50pz80. this is more a willy waving contest than anything else tbh.

Why doesn't?

If they are described in that way the user is obviously happy with the performance, meaning he has a whole range to choose from knowing that others really like them.

except that back in the real world, most people are very over enthusiastic about their own kit. they are and you know it lol. People might be perfectly happy with kit but it doesnt mean there isnt better out there - people talking about samsungs as 'amazing' for instance.

Recently got a new Sony Bravia 32V4000 - sent it back today due to a few dead pixels dominating the screen - however should be going out after work to grab a new one :) Will be using this for my PS3/360 :)

I still think the Samsung image is very very good on Xbox games though. Despite having the 'reference' TV that all Tvs will be judged against.

perhaps we just have different standards but i wouldnt rate any samsung as very very good :p

but hey, id only rate the scaler in my pz80 as above average and despite what people are trying to tell my, my old 40w2000 was and still is better in that respect. if i had the money to throw at it then id have a 6090 in an instant (though id still pick at it :p) but im affraid i had to make a compromise somewhere and the pz80 was the best tv for the price bar none :)

i have a 2 year old toshiba regza 37"

its not bad but i do find that blu ray films are a bit grainy for some reason on it, and the blacks aren't so great. but using it with the ps3 the graphics are great.

Whats scaling matter when you feed it a 1080p signal though

What didnt you like about the A656 when you used it then?

it wasnt up to a pz's standards, in a nut shell. i cant spew out a list of pros and cons because i havent sat with one for a day and tbh when i saw it i knew i didnt have to.

incidently, i took a look at a sony 200hz motion flow display today. it honestly wowed me how smooth it made motion but oh dear...blur everywhere. i particularly liked this scene where a guy was flicking through some pages in a book, slow enough that you should be able to make each page out clearly but the blur was almost chronically bad. Its not something i could put up with and i bet it makes football interesting to watch:o

37LG3000, really good now its set up properly :)

are you finding any image retention on the display? my boss has a 50lg6000 and its a great display for the money but the image retention was a worry as it seemed to be quite suseptable to it
