Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor

GS: Tales of Valor will also have an arcade-style "direct fire" mode for the King Tiger tank in the Tiger Ace campaign. What does this new mode add to the game? Will we see it anywhere else other than in Tiger Ace?

Meh, Soldiers Heroes of WW2 had this 5 years ago. And the new puplisher for that engine is releasing a new version of the game Men of War soon. This feels at little bit like rushed 'expanstion' to shrug of people going to men of war.

Still setting it in europe when everyone has been crying for a africa, russia, mediterranean campaigns is just plain lazy for a third expanstion to a series aswell as an entire genre. Every ww2 game has europe done and dusted, only afew gems move to russia, med, africa and tell storys about the British,Germans,Italians,Russians etc in any great detail.

After playing SHWW2 5 years ago and again last year, and it still looking great up against CoH, with a far far superior singleplayer. I'm very much looking forward to an updated version of the engine set in new ww2 areas.:D

Relic really need to be abit more creative imo :(

When I got the Sherman Calliope on CoH first time. I was like :eek::eek::eek:

Freakin awesome :D

They spoiled the Calliope tank in the latest patches, disabling the main gun - its still great, but why spoil it like that? The whole point of the original Calliope was that it could still be used as a tank! :p

Downloaded the last expansion pack off steam few weeks ago.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for the new game.

loved the first two. would have liked something like the Pacific for a change, Iwo Jima could be epic.

must admit I am a bit concerned at some radical changes like this mini squad based stuff, seems to be duming down tactics if anything -> no more ressources to secure? less toys to command and tactical options

and this direct fire seems like a crappy hyprid fps PoV, the same thing that killed Commandoes series for me with Commado Strike Force

I fear that they are losing the plot. was really looking forward to it, but the more i read about it, the less I like. Seems like Endwar to me and I couldn't be bothered if that's it.

Not impressed by the first person idea myself...

Thing is, if they moved to a different theatre it'd be kind of hard to justify why you have multiplayer with panzer elite and japanese vs british in france :D They obviously think that's important, since they've had the restricted teams since day one. (helps balancing too, but COH does pay more attention to the theme than a lot of games)

it's a standalone, so i don't think you will play CoH owners. If they had chosen the pacific as a theme, it would have changed form last 2 and could be done coherently, obviously there wouldn't be any Panzers.

Anyway we will see what they do, I hope they have some t34 to play with. hehe hoping for a surprised announcement, can never hurt ;)

I don't think it's a standalone in that sense, everywhere else is reporting it as a standalone expansion (you notice this article in the OP says Op Fronts was also a standalone)

yeah but with this new gameplay mechanics, I can't see it being playable with previous games -> direct fire, size of squads, no ressouce mgt

Its called balance, if the calliope has a main gun, and rockets, and means u dont have to build a supply depot, or a tank depot, or have any fuel some may consider it a bit too good :D

But in version 1.0 the Calliope had its main gun enabled.... but cost 150 munitions to fire the rockets - i.e. balanced.

Now its pretty expensive in population cap to have one or more of these floating around the map, unless its regularly in range of enemy positions that can be effectively hurt with its' rockets.

Meh, i have the opposite attitude in that i play the single player to learn the units then go online and never consider lookin at the single player again... this expansion is pretty much all single player... with relics track record any new unit is going to make the online balance even worse.. not that i play coh any more due to the balance being so bad...

CoH is not imbalanced. That is the excuse people use when they get are not that good at the game. keep playing and find a how to beat the opponent tactics. play as the army you are getting beaten by and learn the strengths and weaknesses.

Yep, I don't think there's much of a balance issue in COH at all. People complain about specific units but tend to ignore the prerequisites and costs, frinstance walking stukas- lots of people seem to consider them a win button, I have no idea why, they're slow to get out and have a punitive munitions cost and can be killed in seconds, by the vehicle counter which you can easily have out faster. I've played an awful lot of COH online, mostly I win, sometimes I lose, but I can't say there's a single thing that strikes me as simply overpowered.

Looks like a cartoon, compared to world in conflict
and none of the video links on the site work.....FAIL

What?

1) Since when did World in Conflict enter this thread? It's nothing like CoH or SHoWW2 OR MoW.

2) It doesn't look anything like a cartoon.

3) You've obviously never played SHoWW2.
