I'm building a new machine in a few weeks time, I'm decided on pretty much everything thats going into it, except for 2 things... The motherboard and The case.

Before we start, after my last thread, I feel the need to make it very clear, I would appreciate it if people would refrain from posting 'i think you should spend less money, just cause'. I happen to have come into some money and the majority of it is going into the bank, so don't worry about my financial situation, i can still take care of myself =P .

Now, bearing in mind that I'm bulding a high end rig, and that budget isn't an issue, I was hoping that people could help clear some stuff up for me with suggestions...

Which wins points for having a PCI slot which will sill be useable with 2 large graphics cards in SLI. (A big point is that I want at least 1 useable PCI slot). Again, bear in mind when reccomending that being cheaper isn't a plus here.


As for the case, I've only really seen 2 that I like so I'm pretty open to sggestions, those being....

I'm wanting to be using watercooling and the second case looks like I'd have trouble fitting a loop for the cards and a loop for the board, but has a kickass processor cooling stystem in it so I'm torn. Suggestions very welcome but again, telling me to buy a £10 case or something won't be appreciated =P .

Sorry for repeating myself, but f you've seen my thread in the motherboards forum, you'll know that it took about 9 posts from other people before I actually got my question answered lol:p .

im not sure about which mother board but as for the case i wouldnt buy them 2,i have a antec p190 which is big but a lot of people on here go for the Silverstone TJ07 due to the size and water cooling.
there is also a lian-li case's which ive heard are good for water cooling,personally it's up to you and your taste in case's.
 
I'm buying a full watercooling system from koolance i believe, so built in water cooling isn't a requirement =)
 
Yeah case is very much personal preference but if it were me with money to burn so to speak Id be looking at this Lian Li here, stunning and excellent cooling capabilities
I gather all those boards are pretty good but I'd go for the Gigabyte, this review shows the UD5 very highly rated and the extreme is basically the UD5 with extra cooling

both case's dont have water cooling in them.

they are good for water cooling and come as a case and nothing else.

that lian li case is awesome looking,lovely smooth line's and plain and simple but a very practical case.
 
there is a site that i look at when i buy item's....www.youtube.co.uk.
i brought my case from a review from a man called 3dgamerman,he has done some good reviews and goes into great detail when he review's items.
check him out and look for your case you want on you tube as they are shown in real life and not a picture which can sometime's not do a item any good.
 
i dont have that cooler master, but all of the case i have ever owned by them have been amazing. However failing that don't rule out the P190
 
im just about to install my water cooling kit into my p190 soon and will post before and after picture's so you can see how it all fit's in.
 
Tat would be well cool cause I've just had a quick search and cant find the 190 on OC lol

If I could find a Silverstone TJ07 in black with a window that would be pretty swish too. So many choices >.< haha
 
I was looking at the Lian Li PC-343B Aluminium Cube Case for when I upgrade mine. I know it doesn't look like much but there seems to be quite a bit of room in it and lots of things you can customise/change. Looks like we are all finally going to watercooling :p My build should be quite similar in spec too apart from different graphics cards. Faz was also saying that his new rig might be watercooled! Are you going for a full i7 system/tri-sli?

Watercooled from koolance, with a couple of SSD's in raid as the primary drive, a small SSD just to use as swap partitions and stuff for Editing type things, Couple of velociraptors and a big bulk storage drive. Gunna get a lachesis and the Maelstrom 7.1 USB soundcard from Razer when its out too.

But I'm not finished speccing yet and a couple of things are still up in the air :) . xx
 
Nice spec :) Maybe you should think about a NAS for storage instead of adding more drives inside the case? I know Faz is thinking of selling his (I was going to buy it but I need some cash for my car as I now have new plans :p). Give us a shout on MSN if you want and I will give you more info!

Defo get some SSD's in raid/some for your swap partitions! What would you use the velociraptors for? Would that be just for gaming? I still cannot get on with any other mouse! I should really buy one and just stick with it.

What watercooling kit are you going for? (Probably can't link it due to the rules but it would be nice to see what parts you are planning on buying) :)

Decided on a PSU? What made you choose the KillerNIC M1 Gigabit Desktop PCI Network Adapter?

The killerNIC, just because its overkill the way it works, running a mini linux system on board to take advantage of the more efficient tcp/ip stack and taking load of the mobo. You can even stick a usb drive into it and have the card itself run its own torrent client downloading straight to the stick, completely bypassing the rest of your machine while it downloads.

I'll link you the watercooling stuff on MSN later and yeah, the velociraptors would be for gaming.
