January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

That's bizarre if that goes through, Huddlestone is the best passer in Tottenham's midfield, whilst he lacks pace he has definite talent, worth at least double that price.
Yes he is. People forget he's only 22 because he's such a big lad. When he finally realizes how to put himself about he'll be some player believe me.

£3m is just crazy talk in todays market!
Disagree whole-heartedly, the whole basis of his game moves sideways at best - he's like an SuperSize Me Ray Wilkins - he completely lacks any form of offensive creativity - one of the most overrated players in the Premiership.
Utter drivel tbh.
i think zokora is the reason huddlestone has disappointed

i reckon if we pair him up from a proper midfield player then we will see what he is truly capable of
I still believe Huddlestone could make an awesome CB. With his size and passing out of defence... would put Dawsons long punts to shame :D
After some consideration, I think it's best that we leave Keane well alone.

He just won't fit in.
Knew you'd come round ;)

hmm i like modric think he is a good player but i would not be heartbroken if he left

he limits our options too much just trying to accommodate him espcially away from home

if we can find a playmaker with a bit of muscle or if he can hit the gym then that would be great
I just wish people would give these guys a chance to settle in. Spurs bought so many Prem virgins in we were always going to struggle. Gomes, Hutton, Modric, Pavlyuchenko, Dos Santos. All of them had a bad start!

Gomes has settled nicely so has Pav and now Modric is finding his feet. The other two have had injuries. They'll all come good ;)

What does Big Sam see in him!?

Think he's Derbyshire's replacement. Though why we need a replacement for Derbs I don't know as we have a few reserve team players that might benefit from a run out. Suppose its to counteract any long term injury.

Given that he doesn't score a lot of goals i'm not jumping through hoops in regards to his signature but he's a fighter and the last time we were in a similar position we stayed up by fighting (Chelsea fans may say literally) our corner.

Just annoyed we've not sold Santa Cruz in all honesty. He's done bugger all this season and has for the most part looked disinterested. McCarthy however has been fantastic since he broke in to the team. I say cash in now and let City have him before they realise there are probably better targets out there :p.

on the subject of the Zog, aka le Sulk

We all know he is doing anything he can to engineer a move away from Newcastle, Bobby Robson will no doubt have said his name wrong, JFK has called Enrique all names under the sun recently

As much as it seems its another scandal for us, this really isn't the case

Wigan have offered £6m for him

Looks like we are getting Nolan for 4.5m and Ryan Taylor for 1m, which would make me happy

Argh, Arsenal better be planning on announcing 2 signings today. There will be trouble if there isn't improvement. 5th place isn't good enough, why have Arsenal let their standards drop this far :(.

Ronaldo apprently linked to Real again in the summer for a move of £90 million.

Good the sooner the better, I'm sick of the whole saga. Let him take his ego there and see how he does in a team half full of them.

Everyone kept banging on about ronaldo's 40 odd goals being the reason they won the league and without them they would have been also rans. Well they are doing just fine with him getting no where near 40.

Take the money.

I would be very suprised if anyone comes in.

I've felt it may be the case for a while, but from what has been said over the last few days, I think that Arsenal are actually prepared for finishing outside the top 4. Not saying that they want to, but I've been getting the impression that they are preparing for it.

This seems pretty wise to me. Because we don't have the mega bucks, maybe its a case of spending 20mil with still no guarantee of finishing top 4 or save the money for a rainy day incase the worst happens.

I know most here may not agree but we have no right to finish in the top 4, especially without the financial clout of a few of the teams. Most teams go through peaks and troughs as well and maybe its our time. We are not always going to finish in the top 4 however much we want to.

The biggest danger is losing our best players but they are young enough to be able stick it out in the Uefa cup for a season and see how it goes the following season. It will certainly show where the loyalty of the players (and fans) are.

Apparently Arsenal have just rejected a 12m bid for Toure, 3rd choice CB, when we're struggling to pay for Arshavin. Surely that money would have helped :(?

RvP has said the club need to match his ambition or he's off. He deserves better to be fair, should be banging 30 a season in for Barca, not carrying a team of average kids.

Thats what makes me cross though. He hasn't contributed properly to the team for a whole season since he arrived. He is an undoubted talent, and at the moment he is carrying the team, but there is no way that he should be demanding this and that or the club should be matching anything for him. He wouldn't even walk straight into the Barca team tbh and would spend a lot of time warming the bench.

If he stays fit for this season and into the next then thats puts him into a stronger bartering position but with him he could quite easily get injured on Saturday and be out for the rest of the season.

Maybe some of these prima-donna's should have a look at what happens to other players careers when they move on from Arsenal.

thought that was a mickey take till I saw skysports, WFT seriously

Alan Smith in a different body

That said, better than nowt, seeing as Barton is crocked

I was surprised cos he's pretty good :) Not cos he wasn't good enough.

I reckon Huddlestone is the reason Zokora looks good.

He certainly looks better than Huddlestone.

It does seem like it's starting to go that way, doesn't it? Without any top-class signings coming in, and no-one emerging from the youth ranks, it's beginning to look like our star is on the wane. Our defence is a shambles at times, the midfield lacks bite, and if I were Wenger, I'd probably only keep about half the starting XI.

It seems funny to think that just a year ago this same team, with Flamini, was sitting at the top of the table.

I think that is more because everyone else is playing poorly though. Last year he was the reason we won what we did.

I guess you mean other teams playing poorly? Thats partly it I guess, but at the end of the day its not the results against the top four that really matter (although they are the more satisfying for the supporters) in the League, its the results against Stoke, etc where it matters more (as Liverpool are proving currently.....in the opposite sense)

i think the team was set up in a way that allowed ronaldo to shine last year, he seems to be playing more as a winger this season, setting up more, as last season he was more inclinded to run inside and attack.

I think it's things not going his way, both his fault and others. Missing 1-on-1s, getting wrong offsides called against him, not having evra in the team for quite a while
