Strikes have been breaking out across the UK in support of a mass walkout by energy workers in Lincolnshire angry at the use of foreign workers.

Hundreds gathered for the third day of the original strike at Lindsey Oil Refinery after owner Total gave a £200m contract to an Italian firm.

They have been supported by hundreds of other "sympathy" strikers in Scotland, Wales and other parts of England.

Finally some sense. I am glad these guys are standing up for this, hopefully this might be the start of us Brits standing up and being counted.

Yay for BRITAIN.

its good to see to be honest, as long as foreigners we dont mean british people with other ethnic backgrounds, which i doubt.

you have been claimed, it happens to all new members, i belong to someone, but im not quite sure who it is xD

Yeah dont want to claim that one....

Anyway, to the OP you know the DUP minister for the environment up here in NI has been attacked by pretty much everyone for saying basically the same thing about NI workers "deserving" first prefference over jobs against forign workers....

Possably the only time Sinn Fein have said anything clever was a Sinn Fein MLA pointing out this type of suggestion contridicts EU law.... :D

So suck on that everyone who think its a good idea to boarder into racism when were having a recession!

British peoples fault for not wanting to do the work.

Explain?

That is not the case, it's a case of a Italian firm put in the lowest priced bid for the contract. Then decided to ship in workforce, oppose to using local labour.

Well, surely people who have paid taxes and run British businesses for years deserve the work over an Italian firm farmed in from abroad.

If the goverment want to "spend" their way out of recession, why the hell let companies give the cash to other countries.

We need some homeland laws to protect this sort of rubbish.

Whats the bets we wont see any tax off those Italian employees eh!?

Totally agree. And a lot of the "Italian " workforce they have brought over don't even look Italian, to me they look like they are eastern European ie cheap labour.

I think this is just the start of the protests.
All the union are asking is fairness when recruiting, not refusing to employ UK people.

Im probably bias as my company is shedding 99 this week.

morale is plummetting.

Go away FN.

I don't understand the problem. If you were a company trying to save money in this economic situation (I hate all the terms, sorry!), why wouldn't you pick the lowest priced one? To support your country? Your business would come first.
