Are we heading into a cold winter?

in the south east. Sure a total of 6mm is going to fall over 4 days but it wont settle. its about 0.1mm a hour. wow. London will have to close.

Well London usually sucks for snow too many immigrants keeping it warm :D

Myself i live near canterbury and usually get plastered if the wind/cold direction is right. If it goes to plan i'm expecting a lot of snow , south east is a BIG area it doesn't just include the london tip :p

Really hope it'll snow loads here in Manchester, every year I hear this news saying coldest ever etc but it never happens.

There was an article in The Times today that said very similar (if not identical) atmospheric conditions were prevalent 25 years ago (end of Jan into Feb). Then, there was some seriously heavy snow and freakish weather, lets hope we get a repeat.

Heavy Snow 0001 Mon 2 1800 Tue 3

There is a High Risk of a Severe Weather event affecting much of England and Wales during Monday and Tuesday. Periods of snow will continue to extend westwards through Monday, with heavy falls likely in places. Although marked variations will occur from place to place, 5-10cm likely locally with as much as 10-20cm possible, especially over higher ground. Drifting will occur in fresh to strong easterly winds. During Tuesday, snow is likely to turn to rain from the east, except over higher ground. This could cause disruption to travel networks, especially across higher level routes.

Pah, it looks like there may be up to 6 inches of snow at home on monday. But i'm at uni, in Devon... :(

So on that note I hope no one has any!

It's looking like some decent snow - several cm at least - over most of the country starting around Sunday afternoon and continuing all through Monday. Monday won't be a good day for travelling!

Is should all be over by Tuesday though, warmer with rain.
