Any teachers about?

Congrats Ripper. Seems a long time since you asked for advice about getting on the PGCE!

As soon as I read the other 2 candidates I knew you'd get it; well done. One piece of advice I can offer now is to get your backside, if possible, in to the school at every opportunity.

Well done. Just gotta finish the boring part now, the university bit. I think the NQT year is so much easier than the PGCE, less rubbish!

Make sure, whatever school you go to, grab as many resources as you can find, never know when you may need them!!

Congrats again, and good luck for the future.

Great stuff.

I only just read through this thread today and its nice to see the thread end on a good note.

Its also great that the school were able to give you a decision so quickly. Normally, job interview results linger for far too long.

Congratulations Mr. Ripper.

Aye hehe, you have played your part mate you were a massive help for that interview! Oh and Syph, you're close to Newark aren't you? Thats where the job is :)

Well done mate, just out of interest what feature did you have to teach?

It was a year 7 lesson on powerpoint. There were three topics and each one had to be delivered in 20 minutes, one teaching the kids about master slides, one about linking slides to one another, and the other about creating hotspots. I had to do the master slides one and as a starter I talked about Nintendo Wii games, stating that the design of the game boxes is based on a template and then related this to how master slides work. Followed this with a tutorial video on how to work with them before letting them get on with it for 10 minutes before finally questioning them as a short plenary.

Not quick enough! We were told by our tutors that we'd find out pretty much there and then on the day but because the school were interviewing for another post they said they'd ring me later. I sat about twiddling my thumbs for 3 hours staring at my phone :p
