Hey guys, im 17 just passed and Im picking up a fiat punto today/tomorrow, looking for insurance and just wondering if you have any recommendations for me, ive tried compare the market and a few similar sights but they wants 2.5k plus so im trying other sites. Help much appreciated.

Add parents as second drivers, do pass plus (some places give a discount which nearly equals 1yr NCB) and try the admiral group if they arent already on that website (admiral, bell, elephant)

You bought a car without running any quotes?

Insurance is going to be pricey though and you would be lucky to get your own policy on anything for less than £1500.

Try Churchill. I've been driving for 21 months, but unfortunately only counts as 1 years NCB. They were cheaper for me than everyone else after I tried a few, added both my parents to lower the cost, and they're charging me approx 1.2K for a 1.8 Ford Focus zetec collection this year, the others wanted about £1.6k so might work for you too.

Unfortunately young guys are charged an arm and a leg because of boy racers and the insurance companies know they can get away with it!

Direct Line gave me the cheapest quote.

I'd also recommend NOT to use comparison sites and request quotes directly from the insurers as you can set your own excess etc.

As Burnsy2023 said, anything under £1,500 for Fully Comprehensive cover in your own name will be a result.

Wouldn’t third party theft and fire be more appropriate for a Fiat Punto? Unless it’s the new model/car, can usually knock a lot off insurance.

N reg punto. £1800 is with churchill on my own without added drivers, and thats the cheapest, everywhere else wants over 2K :(

well the idea of the thread was just to get a few names of companies really, tried the admiral group and they wouldnt insure me :p

Really? More expensive  I presumed it would be a lot lower, shows how much I know! :D Do you know what insurance group the Punto falls under?

Find your cheapest quote (with parents added and in a decent-ish post code it should come to about £1300-£1800) and then join Fiat Forum (Google for it) go to the insurance section and theres a deal where you phone up, tell them (Adrian Flux I think it is but can't remember the exact company) and they will beat your best quote by at least 10%.
