From what I can see its just a higher resolution monitor and a slightly older video card. Is there something else that warrants this £500 difference? I'm in the market for a gaming laptop but Im not interested in high definition or the like. I'd rather spend that £500 different improving the processor speed and ram and such. So am I missing something?

The graphics card will be the main bulk of the extra cost. As with computers the graphics card is by far the most important for gaming, so going for the cheaper one and then spending the difference on processor and RAM will not get you a machine that is any better than the first one, probably a fair bit worse, after taking a look the graphics cards used.

I see, thank you. I really only need to play TF2 and cant see paying £1000 for a laptop so I think it would be excessive.

?

depends what he wants to use the laptop for. if he wants a gaming machine then it wont be better no.

but pretty much everything else then of course an upgraded cpu and ram will make it better
