Governments across Europe tremble as angry people take to the streets

This is only a good thing if the people striking have a clue of the consequence of their demands.

Previous strike driven issues (see the 1970's, MG rover and the miners) have proven this is clearly not the case.

Aye true.

The power to change things.

If for example half the UK decided to strike, they would be FORCED to change what ever they were striking about.

We have power, we just don't know how to use it.

yeah if half the UK decided to strike we'd magically be out of a recession???

I reckon we'll see a lot more working class people getting upset and marching about on the street in the coming year - not likely to change anything - companies will still be short of cash and need to lay people off, freeze pay rises etc..

Imagine if the brits got off their back side and protested - Labour would have problems passing their stupid legislation.

Labour have already passed plenty of legislation to allow them to arrest people for protesting, normally under the guise of 'terror' legislation.

Old Gordon will use this as ammo to show that he hasn't single handedly nosedived the country :)

"Its a worldwide crisis" will be uttered again - as normal :)

Shame the UK don't follow our European cousins and stand up instead of being ripped off left right and centre with that British stiff upper lip and a cup of tea!

its begining support those workers who are calling wildcat strikes, spread the word.

I'm sure the government would love an excuse to lock us all up for something, would mean there's more prison jobs, thus meaning that in the end, government wins :(

its begining support those workers who are calling wildcat strikes, spread the word.

I'd much prefer sacking those performing wildcat strikes, they don't have the right to a job, especially in a time of rising unemployment...

the trouble is more and more 'protesters' will have jobs anyway and hence nothing to lose.

This happened in the late eighties

wow, you stick it to the man and get him to changes things and stuff

I didn't post this to get my point across or to create an action group, i posted it to share.

My opinion counts little. I prefer to read other peoples opinions.

The people will always have the power but far too many are just too apathetic to use it by actually voting; they would rather sit back and moan and hope that someone else does something about it.

Ha! Do you really believe that voting is power, in a population as great as ours? Democracy may well have suited the Greeks in their small, B.C. cities, but it cannot work with tens of millions of people.

Making democracy work in this nation would be as trying to stop people littering through a concerted effort. Can't be done, and only a fool would think it possible.
