A day out ratting

The hunting ban should have been a lot better than it is, it's watered down version to try and please everyone.

The hunting ban did nothing for animal welfare, it behaved exactly as all the solid scientific research said it would.

The hunting ban is a classic example of popular emotion resulting in stupid laws.

Yeah was confused about the Hunt Ban thing myself . Only with dogs which kills years and years of tradition .. a real shame .

Maybe i should post some pics of the fox i shot last week . See if that acceptable to the tree huggers :p

Persil

Half the people in this thread are the reason the red squirrel is dieing out to that grey tree rat.

It is no different to using chemical sprays to rid of bugs and creepy crawlies.

I went rabbiting once for rabbits with myxomatosis and its not for me I must say. but I do have a lot of respect for the guys I went with they are very strict! Basically before they took me and my friend out we had to hit targets the size of a P coin between 25- 35 yards and after a few months they thought we were competent enough to go out with them, simply one in the head and when it hits the deck run over and pop off another in the head, clean quick and not CRUEL!

So killing is not cruel if it is done quickly?

I think the point the "green peace" crew are trying to make is that if its pest control, there are more pain free ways of doing it (i.e. gun). Why the 'but we are human and its just nature innit' crew cant realise this, is a harder puzzle to solve.

Personally, I can't really see the difference between this and normal hunting (i.e. horses and dogs vs fox), except for the fact that there are more rats than foxes (I think the hunters classed foxes as 'pests')? So yeah, I think its a bit cruel, so if it was pest control i think a gun would be better and earn more man points too :)

With big holes in the side of their mouths?

So nothing you do in life has any negative effect on the animal world.

I only threw back the ones too small to eat, the rest I smacked round the head with priest for a nice quick death. Gutted and fed the guts to the seagulls, circle of life and all that....

I keep pet rats and take issue to calling the animals 'vermin' and 'dirty' - I personally don't believe in hunting or blood sports and think there are better ways of spending your time.
