Anybody hate this? I have just deactivated my account after thinking to myself what the hell do I care what people who I rarely talk to have been upto and doing at this precise moment?

Everytime I go out drinking I see groups of people huddled together taking group photos pouting with the camera pointing down on them WHY?!?!

I often see people on my facebook that take over 150photos from one night out all with the same people, all with same poses all in same location, and this happens week in week out!

Also pretty annoying how people tell you everything via facebook, yeah I have a mobile ring me or txt me thanks bye!

Anyone else hate how this appears to be the norm now adays for people from about 16-25?

Having used the inet since I was about 13 I never felt the need to update my status and let the world know what I am currently doing until facebook!

*rant over*

Don't see any of your points.

It's great for sharing photos and organising hollidays/events.
Don't take photos everytime we go out. but we always take photo's of birthdays/NYE and Hollidays..

I think Facebook is useful to see what people are up to without asking everyone individually. I see your point though, but it doesn't rile me. Looks like you made the right decision to close your account.

What's wrong with people taking photos? People have always taken photos.. Remember those old photos of your holidays and other events that are now in albums? Is there really much difference?

I like having things to look at to remind me of stuff I've done...

I also like communicating with others.

Facebook just combines the two.

I have an account but it rarely gets used. If you don't like people or constant updates of their accounts, then delete them. I don't even upload any photos of myself at all to my page.

Facebook is depressing more than anything; a forum with nothing interesting to talk about.

Facebook is very good for keeping in touch with people who you otherwise wouldn't be able to. Furthermore it allows old friends who have moved or you don't get to see much to feel like they are still in contact through status updates. This can often make it much easier to see someone after a long time, as you know a bit about what they've been up to and have common ground for a conversation.

Keeping in touch with loads of people makes you live longer as well :)

I have today deleted all my pics and info and deactivated my Facebook account. Fed up of getting friend requests from my friends friends!!! I have never spoke to these people but they add me to bump up there friend numbers..

I have even had a friend request from a Lord Lucan.

Amazing how things change over generations. Whatever happened to the traditional quiet pint in the local with the regulars, organised via telephone or actual meeting in person? Nowadays it's just groups of kids trooping round multiple clubs/pubs till the early hours.

I think I'm just old.

Yeah, you are just old :D

Mind you, pretty accurate assessment of what young people do nowadays, not that I participate in it, but I don't 'disagree' with it.

It's a major gossip tool, that is all. People want to pry into other peoples life as much as possible and facebook makes it easy to.

Don't see any of your points.

This thread is like daja-vu.

IMO if you want to share photos share them properly, I really can't be bothered to look at tiny images that are useless for anything but glancing at, if you want to share photos upload them full size to a sharing site where the other person can actually use them as a non pixelated background image or god forbid print them out.

Organising holidays is easy without facebook, you talk to each other face to face, or on the phone or IM. The most annoying thing ever is waiting hours for a reply. It's like using these forums to organise it, useless is a word I can use.

What I hate is the phrase that is becoming more prevalent, "it isn't official until it's on facebook". WTF, no just because I don't want to share things with the world doesn't mean it isn't official. And that brings us to another major point of facebook, not only is it useful for gossip it's also useful for the opposite, to validate yourself to randomers you probably havent seen in years.

*and breathe...*:p

Maybe its a time thing? Too little time to speak to everyone? so speak to "everyone" via Facebook.

Personally, I think Facebook just alienates people from each other even more

yeah i agree +1
