The Nokia 5800 Express Media (Tube) Thread

Carphone Warehouse are sellling these unlocked.. u pay more to have it on o2 by £10 compared to t-mobile.. not sure about the other networks yet!

Anyone else not able to access O2's webshop? Says "file not found" for me.

I can't find a black one in stock anywhere, anyone know if there's any around?

Gaah. I don't know if I can justify, or convince my parents to allow me to do a £30/month contract for one of these for 18 months. I can certainly afford it but they arn't confident that my internet job is secure with the economic stuff, which admittedly, it might not be :/

£30 x 18 months is £540

If you go for something like o2 Simplicity £20 which gives you 620 mins, 1200 texts and unlimited web (great for 5800)... these no contract so you can cancel any time (esp if a better deal comes about) - then buy the Nokia 5800 on pay as you go the final cost for 18 months is £560!

Sure you will save £20 on contract but I think Simplicity is worth the extra £20!

I'd been calculating all the contracts overall cost but never thought that it could be cheaper to go Simplicity... oooherr.

Will see how I stand after my driving test on the 18th. If I pass and can get insurance all sorted, and have spare capital. I think you're onto a winner :)

6% Quidco cashback on the phone, £23.33 back from o2... this is getting cheaper!

Still works out at more than £560...what price are you getting the phone at? £240 is the lowest I've seen

£20 - but you can sell that on I reckon.

I wanted to buy 5 and sell them on at a highstreet 2nd hand shop - they offered me £75 more than I payed for them - However Im skint so could not afford it - would have made a bomb.

The nokia rep did let me play with a 5800 for 30 mins... he actually dissapiered from the shop leaving me with the phone!!! Its a very nice phone - not as easy to use as nokia's in the past or iPhone but seemed to have plenty of options to play with. I will be getting one when they come down in price a bit more - selling my old N64+goldeneye+4controllers to pay for it!

Just ordered myself one, got it on Flext 35 with the unlimited internet - had to pay £27.22 for the handset as I'm on friends and family discount plan but i guess thats not too bad since i will only be paying £17.50 a month for it. Unfortunately they were out of stock of the handset and had missed Mondays delivery due to the snow, so they are going to call me back sometime later this week just to let me know that the handset is on its way, so i should be able to post some pics and info when it arrives, hopefully before the weekend "fingers crossed"

M,

i'm so confused- why are people considering buying this phone on contract when it costs only £200 new unlocked? Surely the sensible thing to do would be to get the best handset possible, sell it on, and bag a 5800 with money left over?

example- i can get 400 mins, unlimited txts, and 250mb data on orange for 25/month 18m contract (minus the new vat rate, so about £23-4 odd), and a touch hd for £50 credit. i can then sell the hd on gaybay for approx £350- £450. you know the next step- bag a 5800 and enjoy spending all the excess on, well, excess.

why on earth would anyone consider spending £540 on this phone on contract??????? dude where's my car?

Bought this £200 unlocked at a car house which sells phones today. While the interface isnt as good as the iphone, nor does it have multitouch, it is good enough for a mobile phone. It is much faster than my N95-1 and like it very much. i havent't tried the xpressmusic downloads yet, but this will seriously dent n97 sales. It doesnt have the keyboard, the processing power to allow it to have a more flashy UI or the 48GB storage space of the n97, but again for £200 you can't go wrong. Especially since the n97 will cost £450 before contract subsidies.

I'm already on a fantastic contract where I get all the money back via redemption, in fact I'll be making £120 profit because I sold the LG Viewty from that contract on ebay.
