the snow and travel tomorrow

In South London here, it's getting close to a foot of snow now! Just been given the all clear from work :) Apparently there's a second wave which will hit around 1-3pm, love it :D shut the greedy money makers down for the day and spend it with your family and friends heaving snowballs! Should happen more often :)

Yup, can't wait to go out for a snow fight later with my bro and fiancee. :)

Getting to work

pff attempt 1 : car stuck
attempt 2 : too wet (changed clothes)
attempt 3: car dislodged but too many cars stopped on road to get to work

Work from home with hot chocolate!

That's fantastic, a bit of snow and the worlds financial capital has shutdown. Fantastic, just give the buses high res jackets and be done with it.

very hairy, I went out this morning to take wife to work, had a few slides, roads very dangerous down in the south.
Told my wife she might have to get taxi home, not to keen on smashing the car up to be honest.

I work in the vehicle recovery business. We're a contractor for the big companies like Greenflag, Mondial, AA etc. December the 3rd or whatever it was we had over 180 jobs sent to us when it's usually 30/45 a day from the associations, and that was just due to a bit of snow...Can't wait to find out how many jobs we'll have today - I don't even dare to phone the office as that will be in chaos no doubt.

Hope I can get home as I get the bus and part of the route is through the hills and that's always been notorious for heavy snow... Oh wonderful.

I made it half a mile in the car before turning back for home. THere's a hill I was supposed to go downhill but cars coming uphill were struggling and took up both lanes. I swear one of them was even a 4 x 4.

It seems the roads weren't gritted. grrr

Anyone know if trains are operating into Liverpool Street? I only have to travel a couple of lines down the line to get to the central line.

edit: Just an update, National Express East ANglia line inside London is running fine. As is london underground where the stretch is all underground.

Roads round my way were gritted and reasonable this morning, made it 10 miles before I hit traffic around the next town. Decided to heed the travel news' advice and turn around and spend the day at home - with more snow on the way this afternoon I don't really want to have to spend the night at the office.

Hmmmpf .... made it into the office this morning, although I would have preferred to work from home :)

Nottingham trams were fine with no problems at all ... train from Nottingham to Beeston (06:48 Nottingham -> St. Pancras service was delayed by 25mins though).

Pfft, what snow? barely a mm of it in Hereford/Worcester. Train was bang on time, so on time i nearly missed it ! They made it sound like in the Day After Tomorrow and I've seen heavier snow in April !

National Express East Anglia from Braintree to London is running on time but they can't and aren't promising a service later

Im geniunely excited, as I went to bed at 3am last night, woke up at 7am. After seeing the snow I'm totally awake. :D omg omg omg *runs around in circle while waving arms*

LOL homeworking atm and just got an email from HQ advising us that my office in Leatherhead is basically closed today the weather is so bad. Just no point trying to go anywhere today.
