January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

Reo Coker can do a job at RB, but he's not a good player, Micah Richards can play there naturally.
Also, I think it's quite funny that it appears clubs have now seen how unbelievably average Richards is. I swear 12 months ago only I was saying that on here.

Drunkenmaster, keep faith with Wenger. He is doing what he feels is right for the greater good and having been given what he's offered over the years I'd be inclined to support him. Only 4 years ago Man Utd fans wanted Ferguson out as they believed he had gone mad and I'll admit, it did cross my mind that he had been ridiculous in his decisions, but great managers are great for a reason, they often see what we as outsiders don't and there is no doubt Wenger is a great manager.

He's not a great player no, reo coker that is, but he's a good squad player. Personally I didn't/don't rate Young that much but he's doing very well in that setup for now. Richards "is" good, basically exactly what I said would happen at City has happened. With Hamann replaced completely by a VERY VERY good looking De Jong who while on at the weekend tracked back midfield runs perfectly, intercepted and looked superb for a player whose just back from injury. Well as I said, Kompany slipped back to defence, and Richards able to replace the utterly hopeless Zabaleta. Unfortunately Onoura is hopeless also so just waiting for Dunne to get back.

Essentially with two insanely bad defenders in Zabaleta and Ball, and zero cover in midfield to protect them Dunne and Richards have looked poor. But Dunne we know is far better than he's shown this year, as is Richards. Also Richards hasn't played rightback for what 2 years really so will need a little time to get back into the swing. Even then he was getting further forwards and looking far more dangerous than SWP in the second half and its only his second game back in that position. Basically, I think he's VERY good, and has only appeared to be poor due to basically missing 3 decent defensive players around them.

AS for Wenger, can't agree I'm afraid, Fergies had his off odd year, but hasn't gone nearly 4 years without competing properly on any front. Other than a very lucky last year Arsenal haven't been close to anything for 4 years, we've been no where remotely close to the same team and slowly as we lose the "old" team one by one we are getting worse and worse. We're slowly falling back on worse and worse players with no one really coming in as improvements. But the thing is, Fergie never significantly changed his game plan, Wenger used to be all out attack, insane counter attacking speed, goals from anywhere at any second. We have none of that any more, he's completely changed the style of the team, in his first 6 years 4-5-1 was basically laughed at as an option, for 4 years we fall back to 4-5-1 constantly and look utterly turd using it. He won't get back to how he was, he's lost something. Look at the players, 5 years ago Henry said he'd never leave, Flamini wouldn't have just walked away from a first team spot at Arsenal, Gallas would never have spoken out, Toure would never be dropped, Denilson/Diaby/Song would never start a game.

According to Sky Arsenal only offered Arshavin half his current wage, heh.

I think i'm going to stop watching sky sports news, going to drive me mad.

I'll give anyone 50p if you can get drunkenmaster to post a 1 line reply :D

gimme the 50p, paypal?

after money more than caring what league he's gonna play in. WHy spend an entire month going after a player we don't need, that we know we won't offer big wages to and who will never agree to join anyway, rather than spend 1/3 of the wages, and 1/3 of the transfer cost on a player who can play ok for now and will be good value cover in the future. or hell, maybe even spend it on a player we need? he's lost his smegging mind.

So we didn't give in to the wages he wanted and now he's supposedly off back to Russia. Now the two possibilities are, Wenger gets desparate and concede's on the wages, angering everyone else at the club, leaving us open to almost every decent player demanding higher wages at the end of the season, or we don't get him. Frankly it doesn't matter if we get him, with Ade stopping any quick Arsenal attacks and Wenger flat out refusing to use a quick/good finisher up front like any other succesful club in the world whats he going to offer.

Remember we have/had one of the best creative midfielders in the world playing for most of the season and we were still utterly crap, proving clearly that the problem is NOT lack of creativity in midfield but lack of a good striker up top meaning however good the midfield was, they've got no one to play off/pass to/ knock a throughball to when Ade is playing. Theres only, and i do mean only the DM position that when everyone is back fit, will still have entirely no one capable of playing in that position. How in the sweet jesus are we not buying a DM in.

Hell, we've dropped RVP, put bendtner in, dropped Bendtner, dropped Denilson, dropped Song, Dropped Nasri, Eboue, Diaby, Ramsey, Vela, we've dropped everyone except Adebayor, and nothing changes, no matter who else changes we still look completely limited up front, the single player we haven't dropped is responsible for it and yet he just refuses to drop Ade.

Surely any manager can see that when the problem persists and theres quite literally one last player who he could change to see if it makes a difference, that he should try changing that last player. I don't think theres a manager in the world who couldn't come up with the idea of putting Vela in for Ade for a few games and seeing how the team players with a striker who is willing to actually play football.

Keane to Spurs and Saviola to Liverpool?

If Wenger doesn't buy anyone, he's a joke. Why put the fans through this window after window, now is the most obvious it's ever been that he needs to strengthen. If he doesn't and they finish 5th he's only got himself to blame.

In lesser news, Barnsley have signed Mifsud on loan from Coventry. Quite happy with that.

Or the third being that Sky/Media are talking rubbish. After all one of SSN stories yesterday was that there wasn't a meeting at Portsmouth about Adams future. I mean what a pointless story.

He didn't start against Cardiff did he, and that first half was dire. Or did you forget that, or being selective...

Keane is on his way to London for talks with Spurs and there's strong rumours Quaresma is going to join them too:eek:

Edit: Quaresma has been left out of Inter's submitted CL squad and some sort of swap deal with Jenas is being linked as JM likes him for some reason.

Plus he was out injured after the stoke game and missed a few earlier in the season. I don't recall us playing scintillating attacking football then either.

Aye, he's been getting booed by the Inter supporters

Another hugely over-rated player, think he manages about 1 decent game in 10 usually.

Was thinking about this today,

and just heard on 5 live that the FA are appealing for an extension to the window

I guess because of the adverse weather.
