the snow and travel tomorrow

LOL homeworking atm and just got an email from HQ advising us that my office in Leatherhead is basically closed today the weather is so bad. Just no point trying to go anywhere today.

Yeah I'm in Ashtead, right next to Leatherhead, and nothing at all is happening. Not even one set of car tracks down my road. All buses cancelled, the Dorking/Horsham/Guildford to London train lines run behind my house and there's nothing going through all morning.

I normally ride a motorbike to work at Stansted Airport but decided to take the bus today. Stood there for an hour, no buses in sight. Oh well, day off for me. The residential roads here are bad, only 4x4s can get around. We've had about 4-5 inches of snow so far.

im going to be cycling all day in this snow, i guess its no different from cycling in the rain.

hopefully tyres will keep me upright.

YAY I'm at work :(

Bus almost got sideways a couple of times.. No idea how I'm getting home LOL !!

Enjoy your day off all you lucky beggars :D

Take it from someone that spent most of last night working on the tracks. At 1am, you had the juice rail buried under snow. It may not sound like anything to you, but take into account that the juice rail is a few inches higher than the running rails, you have a big problem. We tested machines and track trolleys to see how the rail would hold up, everything was skidding all over the place. If they run the trains (for which to train companies need to be sued for, for reckless endangering their customers), the trains won't move much faster than jogging speed.

Its funny how most of the UK's Nation is freaking out after afew inches!!! of snow, try living in Canada/America, happens all the time and it doesnt cause no where near as much hastle as this.

Just shows how much of a Joke this country really is!

Not really - it's a regular occurance for them so they have measures and funding in place to deal with it.

One of the other things is their drivers will be used to driving in it regularly whereas a lot of us probably aren't.

I made it in from Essex despite a 30 min drive taking 1 hour and a 45 minute train journey taking 1 and a half hours. Fun.

I'm going home soon and working from home. The one time I don't take my laptop home in the past 6 months...

people do not know how to drive in snow!!

i attempted to get to work this morning from mid oxfordshire to Reading.. All the way through oxfordshire it was absoloutley fine, everyone doing a reasonable speed, where there was snow of the road with plenty of space between each card. As soon as i hit reading, it was carnage, it was gridlock with driver constantly spinning their wheels and sliding about the road and going 2mph....

I though poke this it's gonna take me an hour and half to get into reading centre so turned round and went home... now 'working' from home

Bracknell is probably similar but with more chavs and wheel spin

Took me nearly two hours to get to london bridge from clapham south but i turned round and went home when i got there, jubilee trains were only running every 10-15 mins or so and it was packed. Rang hr and the boss and both went straight to voicemail so I'm not the only one!

Im geniunely excited, as I went to bed at 3am last night, woke up at 7am. After seeing the snow I'm totally awake. :D omg omg omg *runs around in circle while waving arms*

Reminds me of myself! Was planning to wake up at 9.30 but the snow meant I had to wake up at 8 and check my emails to see if Uni was cancelled. Soon after I was outside in the snow helping my bro build a fort.

Uni's still on but waterloo was apparently closed so I can't get in .

Live in Scotland, unless there's a huge amount of snow it's barely even mentioned on the news here other than " don't drive like a moron" signs on the motorway. It's England/Wales that make a huge deal over it, remember, national news is actually "News about England."

Fiancee is from Manchester, has been living up here for about 14 years, thinks it's hilarious that her sister is "snowed in at home" when there's been about 2 inches on the roads.

Have Scottish independence by all means, your country would collapse without the money it currently gets given from the "Evil English" ;)
