Rant time..British companies

Is it me, or the majority of British large companies very poor.

I have dealings with all the major ones from British Gas, Telecoms, even down to Tescos, and they never provide a good service or always **** something up.

The standard of service in this country has got to the point where I actually expect something to mess up or details to be incorrect etc, and I am left hanging on the end of a customer service phone.

Thats better, had to get that off my chest. :mad:
 
Lived in other countries and everything has always been fine and straight forward. This country however...............

Just got off of the phone to British Gas who provided my new supplier with the wrong serial number of the utility and it seems neither has been supplying me gas for the last 6 months ??
British Gas also cocked up the electricity serial numbers as well :rolleyes:

Deep breath before I have to phone them up again :D

Hahahaha just phoned them up with their ' you can contact me on this direct number sir' , and this person has apparently gone to the Doctors now and not back until tomorrow and no one knows anything about my case. ( Major gas/electric supplier as well )

Given up, gonna crash on the sofa, watch tv and start drinking heavily :D

I had an Eastern European sounding bloke trying to get me to change companies recently. Of course I informed him that the landlord is not interested in changing electricity\gas supplier...

Did you find somewhere to live in the end, or are you still lodging with the same landlord?
 
Mine started back in July when I wanted to move from British Gas to Scottish Power, and its still going on now. I am like the messenger between the 2 companies who both dont know their a$$ from their elbows it seems.
Been told by Scottish Power that they can no longer offer me the deal that I applied for last July as it has taken too long !!!!
 
Why can't you just cancel, then change.

Otherwise say you won't pay the bill, then sign up with the other company...I really do hate the way thing's work sometimes, because obviously it isn't as simple as that.

I sympathise re : British Gas. I had heard how incompetent at times they could be but when you experience it yourself and realize that quite a lot of people are on the receiving end of bad service it makes you think again. My Sister had 13, yes 13, appointments (house calls) arranged through a period of time and they either didn't turn up, or had the wrong part. It cost her £600 in time off work. I have had the same thing happen to me twice last week.

Funny thing is, British Gas said I had to pay them £125 as a final bill to close the account, so I paid it. They are now saying I am £360 in credit but cant release the funds until Scottish Power give them a metre reading, but Scottish Power cant becasue British Gas has supplied the wrong serial number :confused:

Dont need this, its the final day of the transfer window for gods sake !!!
 
Why did they not tell you about this outstanding credit, and why where you not informed about this before?

They are trying to leech you, end of.

Unless of course you owe them money due to having a yearly contract...which makes no sense if your cancelling it, as thats what the £125 should be.

I noticed I was not getting charged for any Gas so I just contacted them, and they deny everything saying they dont have the correct info and they have not supplied me with any gas.
British Gas also say the service transfered over in September. Seems I am getting my fuel from the Gas Fairies :D

The electric side has taken 5/6 months to sort out due to British Gas not updating their records which in effect has ruined my 'price frozen' deal with Scottish Power as well.

Dont get me started with BT and their ' we will send you a new Homehub every month ' which I dont want.
