Facebook culture

I use it but, I've never arranged anything on it and I message people probably twice a year! heh.

It's just everyone I know we arrange stuff by phone, or email or msn or our own IRC channel. Facebook is too slow, most of the above is easily accessed on the go too.

Recently cleaned up my friend to leave real friends not just people I used to know who never talk to me.

But, I do notice some people constantly update on what they are doing, some things you just don't even need to know.
"Going to work" oh..really?, ok.

I find facebook absolutely fascinating from a psychological perspective but it's not something I have any interest in participating in, I much prefer "real" friendships and don't need a medium like facebook to communicate with my friends.

I just use facebook to catch up with people who i haven't seen in years and do some flirting with a few ex's :o. The most annoying things is recieveing 100's of invites and requests for stupid games or questionaires.

I bet most of the people who don't see the point in it just don't have a social circle which uses it very much. At my uni, virtually everyone has Facebook and it's used for arranging lots of social occasions. You could live without it but you might fight yourself out of the loop a bit.

My friends are pretty reigious about it but I know they hardly use it for anything important, it's usually just to send a stupid message like "i'm sitting beside you..." etc.

My friends know if they want to talk to me they can ring, text or meet me as I very rarely log into my account.

i have one thing to ask you, have you got any friends ?

Facebook is one of the only ways i can contact many of my friends, also i get invited to parties through facebook, i also have many of photo's on facebook to do with school memories, and vice versa, my friends put pictures from years ago of good moments that i never knew were took.

i think your angry because you cant do them things.

ring a helpline or something.

Only thing I hate about facebook is these type of people

"Dale is just going to his car"

"Dale is now in his car"

"Dale is now driving"

"Dale just pulled up at a traffic light"

"Dale just hit a cow :/"

****es me off lol

Just remove them from your friends list then...

I have strict rules about things like app invites and constant status updates, break my law too often, and off my list you go. Pretty simple really.

Anyhoo, I like FB, lets me keep in constant touch with my close friends if we sync up being bored at work, and most of my friends don't use forums, so it's the best alternative.

People moan about it all the time, but it's not the site, it's the crap people that you add as friends that you are really complaining about :p

I've deactivated my account twice due to getting fed-up with everything about Facebook culture. I always come back to it tho because it is generally very good for keeping up to date with old friends and colleagues; better than having to wonder what they're doing (or just forgetting about them...) and sending e-mails back and forth. It's nice to have everything in one place that you can check occasionally.

But yeah, it does also drive me up the wall. In one of my classes at school the teacher is moving us to a room with no computers because half the class just sits on Facebook the entire class. That's just completely rude, disrespectful and obsessive. They're the kind of people who have to have 200+ friends, post party pictures every day and generally have the intellect of a chicken.
