This is my 1st post on this site so please be kind! I've just bought a Panasonic FZ28 and i must say this is the best camera i have ever owned. I thought i would share a few shots i have took in the last week. A couple of them emphasise the powerful zoom. Let' s see what you think ...

I just thought I'd share these photo's and would be quite interested in what you all think. My last camera was a Samsung S800 and at the moment i am really enjoying playing with my new Panasonic toy. Cheers.

Great first pictures! The last 3 are my favorites.

They also show how versatile the current breed of 'super-zooms' are!

I ended up going for the Canon SX10 IS (arch rival!) which i'm picking up on Monday. Can't wait to get some pictures in - this is my first non-compact camera. :)

Enjoy your new toy this weekend!

have a look in your manual of your fz28 for extra optical zoom, it should have it.
on my fz18 you can up the optical zoom to 28.7x and that ups the digi zoom to 115x
i know digi zoom isnt if much use, but the extra optical zoom is

Yeah, i had look though the manual and i can increase to optical from 18 to 32.1. It kicks the digital zoom up 128x. It's the (EZ) option on my camera.

thanks for the info and i'll have a little play with it tomorrow..

I love the shot of the plane, i cant wait until i get mine and get driving, im going up tio the local airport for a couple of hours to see what photos i can get :D

reading the review, and looking at these shots, that camera certainly seems like an impressive device..

Although at £265 + (?) it should be, and that's more than I paid for my DSLR new... :)

The best thing is that I bought mine on Boxing Day at my local Comet store which was having a one day sale. I paid £209 the camera. It was the last one in the shop and was an ex display. It comes with 1 years guarantee for back up, but to be honest it works great and i can't believe how good this camera is.

Well that's confused me. I was all set on an a200 or a d40 but looking at those shots I'm really impressed. I'd read that the FZ28 suffered a bit of softening in shots but those look fine to me. The shot of the moon is amazing.

Have you upgraded the firmware on it?

Couple more moon shots with the Panasonic ...

I haven't upgraded any firmware yet. I'll check out the Panasonic site and see whats available.

The only minor niggle i have with the camera is there is no remote control. When i was taking the photo's of the moon the slightest touch to take the photo had the camera shaking all over, even though i had it tripod mounted.

you wont get a firmware update, unless there is a big fault with the cam,
there were never any updates for my fz18 on panny`s website
bit i did find one on dpreview.com that someone found(upgraded from 1.05 to 1.09)

Sorry I'm talking pap. I was thinking of the TZ5 which is a completely different beast.

Again, soz.
