sorry guys, another dreamy thread!

If taking your safety into account makes me an ahole, then i don't mind being an ahole. Your attitude stinks

Does anyone have a link to the video which showed the outcome of test dummies in an old convertible compared to a modern one after rolling?

I'm on my phone so i can't really search - i'm sure a quick search on you tube will come up with something

I don't care about you at all. I'm being a responsible adult, something you're incapable of being.

How patronising of you. Your only a year or two older than me, your not my mum. A responsible adult wouldn't result to peronal insults just because somebody doesn't agree with them. Go figure.

I'm not insulting you, find me a post where i've insulted you and i'll report myself! I've been driving for a year and a half, i'm trying to help you benefit from my knowledge of being a new driver myself! I've tried to be helpful but guess what, you're not listening.

I am listening. What do you want me to do? Say I'm not going to get the car so you feel all warm and fuzzy? You only have to say it once, just because it hasn't made me change my mind it doesn't mean I haven't listened.

The thing i take issue with is the fact that we're all saying that if you crash, which is possible, you will hurt yourself. You basically reply by saying you won't crash, how can you possibly know this?

Because he says he will drive really really really carefully.

How many times have I heard that from new starters. ;)

Shocking. I'd imagine an even worse outcome in a Triumph.

Surely your parents express the same concerns?

I only came up with the idea today. I was actually planning on getting the hardtop, but even so it still doesn't bother me too much. I was speaking to my dad about it since my mum isn't intrested in cars, but never got that in depth.

2 things stand out here. First things first

1: get a licence first.
2: get a oldish fiesta/corsa/clio and drive that around for a few years and doesnt matter if you do damage it.

you need to build experience first, and work your way up. Buying fast cars, or classics as a first car is asking for trouble. I got a 3 year old fiesta as my first car, and to be honest it was a bit daft. within 2 week id already backed it into my wall 2 times (in my defence the driveway is ****). So there i was, a mint 3year old fiesta and *I* had ruined it... Now if it was a classic car id ruined it would be a lot worse.

Seriously buy a barge or a banger while you build up your miles.

The thing that also crawls up my nose is this guy doesn't even have a driving licence, hasn't even taken a lesson yet still seems to think he knows better than everyone.

I don't. It;s just a lame argument thoughh, I'm going to hurt myself in a crash in whatever car I get for under 2k

another lesson i learned... Dont spend ALL your money on the car, because theres a lot more to a car then just getting the car itself.

I have a nice roof to protect my silly head (don't say hardtop will save you because its just fibreglass). I have airbags to stop me from breaking my face against the steering wheel. I have side impact cars and crumple zones. All this on a £900 Fiesta. What will you have? Nothing!

Thanks for the advice, but the 2k budget is just for the car i have other money for the rest.

your going to have a hard time convinving me not to get a classic car when i can for the same money as a banger.

And I'm pretty sure 99% of the population still survived back in the day as well.
