Hi guys, I badly need some help PLEASE.

I have an Evga 680i m/b.
4x1gb OCZ ram.
gtx 280.
And a new E8500.

The problem is i can't get past the 375 on fsb.

I have lowered to 6x multi, stops at 375.
I can get a little over 3500 with 9.5, but when it gets to 375 fsb that is it.
If i go higher and save the bios, it will boot, but i just get a black screen.

This is the LED error code that is on the board "--".

I have an OCZ gamexstream 850 watt psu.
My ram can run at 1066 and i have tried it linked and synced, and unlinked.

I have had a E6700 at x8 multi 400 fsb = 3.2 on this board, which indicates to me that the chip wont clock any higher.
Please tell me i am wrong and help me get a bigger o/clock.

I am at my wits end here, i have spent hours and hours and hours on this,
I need sleep, help.( head hits keyboard).

Problem is with your Mobo - it is not so good for OC mate.Did you change any voltages?

I had everything on auto until it wouldn't post, so at that point i upped the cpu core to 1.45v.
cpu fsb to 1.5v.
Nforce spp 1.5v. No luck there.

My memory blue screens at 1.9v at 1066, so i have manually changed that to 2.1 and left it there.

:O

No need for voltages that high for that clock at all!!!

Try vcore at 1.3v, fsbt same (or even lower) and try the northbridge (mch) at around the same, sounds like the memory is unstable if it starts to boot and get a black screen.

No luck at these volts i am afraid.

I have just run all my different scenarios again, just to double check, unlinked upto 375 fsb and that is all.
linked and synced 1:1 375 fsb and that is as far as it goes.

I am now stuck.

What i would like to know, from someone more knowledgeable than me is,
is it my ram or motherboard, that is holding this chip back.

If i knew the problem hardware i could move on and buy new stuff.

I have been trying again tonight, and still can't get past 375 fsb, so i am now in the market for a new board and 2x2gb ram sticks.

Thinking of "Biostar TPower I45 Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard"
and G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PK PC2-8500C5 (2x2GB) for the ram.

I would appreciate any views either for or against this choice, and any possible alternatives.

Thanks for your consideration.

When I had my GA-P35-DS3L and my E8500 I had a similar problem. Tried pretty much everything. Then I upped my PCI-E voltage and flew to 4.2GHz in a few minutes
