Facebook culture

I don't have and probably never will a facebook account or a myspace account. Why would I need one? I don't need to socialise and re-live parts of my life through said images with people online. If I want to speak to them, I will phone them, go and see them or if all else fails msn and email...There's a certain advertising about oneself I really don't like with myspace and facebook profiles. It's that certain "hey look at me" thing I just don't 'get' or like. But hey whatever, my loss - not that I honestly care.

They're the kind of people who have to have 200+ friends, post party pictures every day and generally have the intellect of a chicken.

hahaha, I just went to check if I broke this 200+ saddo rule, and it turns out I have 199 :p

I find Facebook protests hilariously pointless. Yeah, I could have seen the Israelis pulling their armour & infantry out of Gaza because a member's group urging them to do so gained 1,000,000 members.

Well, I was going to argue that Facebook isn't that bad...

Until this changed my mind...

Oh well.

Love FB, use it to pretty much keep in contact with childhood/high school friends who are all around the world now.

i personally hate facebook, only got an account cos my misses made me one.

yea its great for keeping in contact with old mates and organizing events as such, but come on, some people are a little too addicted to it, to be constantly updating there profile with utter **** like 'emma just made herself a drink'..... honestly, people need to do something more construtive....

o ya, i play wow so my opinion doesnt matter :D

Everyone has a different opinion on Facebook, some may have good points about Facebook, most of these people also have negative points about Facebook. Everyone is different and likes it for a different reason which is why it's thought as being 'so good'.

Everyone from the age of 16 to way over 80 can use it. For different purposes. All of these people have different interests which is why they use Facebook for alternate reasons when compared to each other.

Hey I love Facebook, but I find many of the popular applications take it over the top, beyond what should be within Facebook. That's just my opinion, I know people love applications which I'm happy for them to be.

Just my 2c

I'm addicted to it, but today I found myself getting driven insane by the number of status' refferring to snow. Arghh! Sarcastically I retaliated with '..is marvelling at the pristine beauty of the adverse weather conditions, as I've never seen anything like it in my life, it's so cold my ****ing **** is about to drop off!' I'm an idiot. Oh what a sad little life one leads. The 'look at me' thing is very annoying too.

I only have one real problem with Facebook and it's something that has been mentioned in this thread a couple of times already; If you're signed up to facebook people simply assume that you check it every hour of every day like they do. I don't, so when i don't come to your birthday party that you invited me to a couple of days beforehand via facebook don't get arsey with me ya numpty.

People seem to just hate phonecalls these days i swear.

I was toying with the idea of getting a Facebook account and posting a daily picture of my bowel output - et voila, Faecebook. But between having a life and apathy, never got round to it, probably never shall.

If anyone else wants to pick up this idea, it in the Public Domain. No royalties payable etc.

I have a Facebook account but my gf did originally sign me up as I was having second thoughts.

It's annoying for all the reasons people have mentioned and well received for the benefits it gives. I personally check it once a day if that and for no more than 5 minutes. Just to see if there are any interesting updates from any friends and that's it.

I would probably appreciate it a lot more if I was off travelling or on holiday and wanted to contact friends back home, upload pics, etc. For the every day, run-of-the-mill living of life it's not needed. If I don't speak to people who I used to goto school/work with, it is for a reason.

I think I find the "mass friend culture", the "150 pics of me and 3 friends sat in the same pub for 3hrs" and the "I like spamming people stupid applications that make me look like a ****" cultures most annoying.
