who couldnt resist the urge to be a chav today?

I decided to take my car up the side of the building at work- hit the limiter in second (whilst actually travelling at about 15 mph :p ) 180 on the handbrake (which ended up more like a 110 :o ) then parked up properly in the car park :o

Its always fun to try some handbrake fun in empty car parks when its been snowing, one of the best ways to learn what it feels like to slide and how to react if it happens out on the road.

I think it should be part of the driving test/lessons. Simulated, of course, or else the carparks would be full of novices sliding around during winter so they don't have to wait another year to take their tests.

Driving on a little snow isn't so bad if you know how, but the roads are too full of people who don't.

i agree. reminds me of the finnish rallying with james may on top gear :D

i think it would be a great idea. not only is it fun, but you learn very important skills. having said that, however, i would expect this to lead to every boy racer in the country to drift to the job centre and back :(

I work at a car supermarket,. I was driving cars out of the vehicle bay to a open stretch of snowy tarmac :D, did a nice controlled 180 spin with the handbrake with some praise from a few of my fellow workers. However my smugness was shortlived as also watching me was one of the company directors. Luckily I think he saw the funny side as he had a grin on his face whilst saying "Can you TRY not to do that again thank you"

Took a detour on the way home so I could go down a road that doesn't get much traffic, and proceeded to just snake around everywhere. Unfortunately the handbrake is so crap on my car that I could only just manage to get the back to swing around. :(

This weather makes me wish I had a RWD, sortof :)

i couldnt resist. pulled out of the clear part of the carpark, sped up, hit a snowy area, started understeering, pulled handbrake perfect 4 wheel drift :D great fun :D

You can never practice skids & slides enough, Snowy car parks are great for this, I had a stint a couple of hours ago on my way home. :)

Work car park + Snow = Fun in a Golf....I never thought I would see the day!

imagine how fun it would have been in a 350 ;)

why a 370 in the sig btw?

There is an empty car park iced over near me, I took the 350z there last night to take some *photos* ;)

I still didn't get any decent photos!!! I only had my phone and I just missed the light when I got back from work, so leaving it till the weekend...

I haven't got a single decent photo of it yet, once the weather is better and it is clean I will change my sig. Don't you like the 370? :D

Christ you BMW drivers are all such fairies! Find a big open space, disengage all electronic driver aids, full lock, throttle it, steer into skid for prolonged sideways action.

You can't go wrong, just use a little common sense to avoid clobbering a kerb/pole/trolley bay (not speaking from experience, honest :o ) and you'll be fine, Robina.
