I used to love big boxes, you know the type, huge boxes, great artwork big manuals etc that came with the Amiga, early PC etc... Then I got old. I'm now nearly 30, and simply have no room for all my pc game boxes as well as my Xbox 360 games. I prefer being able to simply click and go, rather than run from DVD... Shame its just not cheaper at the moment.

Whichever is cheaper.

And I am 35.

Probably the reason I have more physical product is because the people that do digital download seem to think it is OK to charge full price.

I prefer boxed games as then it's always mine. However with the current trend for online activation, it doesn't really matter as even if I buy a box, it may not always work in the future

Edit: 30 yo

I use both to be honest, but i generally go for the boxed approach, thus my vote goes for that =)

33 Prefer boxed.
Digital downloads are still far too expensive in places and I prefer the additional material that I get with boxed goods - I see it as better value. I can see the good perks of digital media as like most I went on a spending spree on Steam over Xmas but I do prefer to read material too.

Right now UK prices for digital downloads are just too high as RDM mentioned vs boxed versions where I feel you get more.

Prefer CD+box but when it's cheap on steam I get it on that convenience.

So usually : Retail.
When it's cheaper on steam: Steam.

I like both though, steam means no hassle and no bloody setup just double click play a different game for 30 mins and ready to play your new game after no primitive POS things called dvd's/cd's.
But retail booky's make a good read on the toilet and extra's like the map/posters provided with the gta games are awesome ! Like having dvd boxes too.

Digital download is now my prefered choice (via Steam)
Especially now with the recent problems of DRM and install limits

Not bothering to answer the poll - 21-30 is far too wide an age gap given that the majority of people on here probably fall into that category.

And I know the conclusion would involve people focusing on the 20 end of that spectrum rather than the 30 - concluding that only "youngsters" like downloading.

/etc

Yet you could be bothered to write that...

I personally prefer a disk, gives me something to stroke. However, if the time comes when digital is cheaper and/or there is too much DRM in every disc, I switch over happily.

I can be bothered to make a point yes. My point is that the poll as it is wouldn't give useful results.

Ideal would be to stream that game in real time whilst playing!

Sorry for the double post.

Play a non steam game in the meantime ?

Anyways, although I love the box and booky and want a retail copy any time over steam, I just hate discs&cd checks, imo dvd's and cd's belong 10 years in the past not in this year, I can't stand installing games either hence I like steam and finally I don't like waiting for posty, when I buy on steam I can play a 4 gig game in less than 60 mins from buying...

I do miss the smell of a fresh box though and some games must be bought retail like gta...
