Tell Me About Hatfield

Hello,

I've been offered a new job in Hatfield, and I'm considering it. However, I'd like to find out more about the area first.

Who here lives there? What's it like, nightlife, things to do during the day etc?

Hatfields not great, I have only been in Hertfordshire for a year, however I would much rather live in one of the surrounding towns (Hertford, Harpenden, St Albans, Welwyn etc).

If you want a "bit" of nightlife and shops, I would recommend St.Albans.

I work in St. Albans and would not recommend it. It has a ton of pubs but.. little else in reality. Good thing is it's a quick 30 mins train ride from St. Pancras, so you can get away from the place every day!
 
Hatfield is a not so nice place to live. I live up the road and only moved here recently but everyone I work with has said it's not a good area. There is little there. Where is the job? You are better looking for somewhere to live in the surrounding area, travel to and from work is easy, there is very little travel. St Albans is expensive. Afew who work at my place used to live in Hatfield when they first moved down, btu they since relocated. It takes me less than 10minutes to drive from Welwyn to Hatfield.

I posted a similar thread a few months back if you search through my threads! Almost the exact same question. I work in Hatfield during the day.

I live in Hatfield but me and my fiancee are looking to buy a house. We are mainly looking at Welwyn Garden City and Hertford areas as they are close to Hatfield and easy to commute (we both work in Hatfield).

There is NO nightlife in Hatfield, you will want to go to St Albans or Hertford for that but they are not far away.

Don't live in Hatfield its not a nice place.

There is Asda and the Galleria that's about it. Hatfield house is well worth a visit though its really nice :)

The area has good transport links so live in a town close by and commute in!

correct :), Hatfield seems to have quite a large chav population too which isn't so great. I live in Welwyn Garden City and while its not perfect, is much preferable to Hatfield
