Bishop questions holocaust truths

Guess he can have his opinion. Bit tricky coming from a bishop though I agree. Mind you, he does have an invisible friend that he corresponds with :D

I must notice that people have gone overly stupid with what happened in WWII. If I want to find the truth of what happened without relying on the official story and for example after my investigation I come to the conclusion that "5 million die and not 6 and none in a gas chamber" this doesn't make me Antisemit nor a "denier".
Why people are so clouded by emotions that subjects like racism or the holocaust can never be discussed openly for the sake of improving what we know and better deal with history. To immediately alienate someone by labeling him a denier the moment he reasonably and logically provides some solid arguments to support his view which happens to be somewhat different than what is "generally accepted" is not only stupid but dangerous! as it hinders "progress". Historical truth goes by evidence, not by emotion.
So long as we make plausible arguments based on reason and not on hate and other negative to humanity things I don't see why we should keep our mouth shut.

Didn't expect that from a bishop.

Historians, bishops they are all at it......

I dont really understand the denying thing my self, its proven the nazis went about rounding up jewish poeple from europe (and may other groups) and theres a lot of evidence (mass graves) of people being systematically killed. Probably best to conclude that most denyers should just be ingnored... (i mean hard core denyers, not people who question the figures or promote further debate on the past etc.)

You know its illegal to deny the holocaust in some main land european countries (eg. austria)

He didn't come across as a radical conspiracy theorist though which is refreshing.

e: Just need to get hold of Hitlers gas bill and see for yourself...

Amazingly so any person who has some "questioning" to do is immediately called a denier even if he concurs with the core of the story which is that jews died in a genocide. If we deny other historical events nobody cares but with the holocaust you can't touch the subject. I understand why but I disagree.
If my mother was killed by "someone" I wouldn't wanna touch the subject just for the sake of it either, however, if someone had some plausible arguments based on evidence to bring forward that would enhance the truth of what really happened I would really like to get to the bottom of it as it would have certainly helped me to try to prevent such a event from happening again to other family members even if at its core this subject would have been difficult to bear.Whatever deters impartial investigation is for me detrimental.
Similarly so racism is a subject again people are unwilling or incapable of discussing without emotions and fights taking over. We really need to grow up

You seem to be of the thought that what is said to have took place in the Holocaust did not happen at all - or the details that are taken as truth are greatly skewed.

I have not really read the intricate details of the Holocaust, but why don't you tell us your thoughts on what happened there - if you want a civilised debate put your thoughts forward would be interesting to read. :)

I don't believe that what I write suggests that i don't believe the official story. I speak in general when I say that I don't like alienation of people when they simply wanna get to the bottom of things alone or who simply like to keep an open mind and see what we call "further investigation" as something that can lead us to better understanding rather than see it as something dangerous you shouldn't be doing.

I don't believe that generally most of the people are mature enough to debate the holocaust, racism, religions without ending up with a "me against you" situation and name calling. My hands are off with these subjects

True - but then it is an intensely sensitive subject. I have not read into the Holocaust in any great detail apart from the general knowledge on the subject.

Why not, you seen who his boss is?

Notice how he's past the age of his participation in the Hitler Youth and is in fact in the Seminary.
