8800 GTS in Clearance - £40 +VAT

Well that didn't last long, they've all gone (there where 10+ last time I looked).

Admittedly they aren't G92's, but at this price for a new card, its a good 'bang-for-buck' in my opinion.

They are the 640mb version.

I missed out on some 9800GX2's a few weeks ago at a very good price, so I decided to bite the bullet this time.

Looks like I wasn't the only one :)

it might be too late as you already bought the card from the shop but there is a 9800GX2 for sale in MM for 150 notes here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17970501

Yeah, I'd already seen that and had been a little bit tempted (GX2's have been cropping up in MM from about £180 downwards in recent weeks).

The 4 8800 GTS's will give me more production for a not dissimilar cost anyway (estimating 3-3500 PPD per card, compared to 8-9500 PPD for a GX2). I know its going to cost me more in electric, but I can probably retire a cruncher or two in compensation).

Well OcUK can now count me as an unhappy customer.

I've just rang to see why my order hasn't been delivered and they told me that the graphics cards are out of stock and won't be coming back into stock.

I'll save my rant for an email to OcUK (If I can find one a suitable email address), but we won't be seeing any significant increase in my production in the very near future. :(

Perhaps this is a sign that I should leave DC for a while and concentrate on some of my other interests (cataloging my magazine collection and building a music synthesizer).

Disappointed of Liverpool

I've had two B-grade deals fall through myself before, and two successfull ones. Was very annoyed at the time too, but a better deal presented it's self a month later on MM. Silver linings and all that :)

It wasn't so much that the deal fell through that has annoyed me, but that they didn't tell me (and still charged my credit card for something they couldn't deliver).

Heh - I've had this happen with regular stock. It's usually a case of human error when this sort of thing happens (booking in 12 items instead of 2 due to 'finger trouble', for example). Easily done and it can be difficult to catch until someone tries to pick the goods and finds an empty shelf, and by then it's too late.

Was the same with me :( refund was super quick but, I needed to call them to find out.... I think that they take money first, then check stock - where as other companies (mostly food related) do the opposite (that way the special offer has ended on the day of delivery ).
