Well i am currently waiting for better budget boards to be released due to being stuck with a problematic Asus P5E.

I have 4gb of OCZ memory sat on my desk useless as it is not compatible with the Asus and so is a waste of £40 if not being used however this is only due to incompatible hardware ect, i should be able to sell this board for around the price that the Abit will cost.

Due to the lack of budget motherboards that are good for overclocking would it be worth getting a proved P35 board over these would the IP35 given its reduced price or would it be worth my time saving for a better upgrade?

I will not be upgrading for a while when i feel that my computer can no longer handle newer games sufficiently, the only things left to do is straighten out any incompatibilities and to make it more quiet.

What are your recommendations as to what i should do and would the board last me until the end of this year (Dec/Jan) when i may need to do a big upgrade?

I would keep the board and the sell the RAM.
I would think that you would lose less money on the RAM and pick up some of the Corrsair 6400 stuff.

Indeed, just sell the ram and grab some different sticks.

Abit support is crap, so probably you have no chance to get newer BIOS etc. They stoped making Motherboards at all - don't go for it.

Thats not always the case. I emailed Abit support about adding in support for Phenom II's on an Abit mATX board I have, and they sent me the BIOS. They are still supporting their gear, although I don't know for how long.

If you looking to build a system that you won't upgrade, just build now, use and then demote to secondary when you build your new machine, then Abit would be fine if its cheap enough.

Just don't expect to buy an Abit now, and then add a Phenom III in 4 years time :)

& I would still like a copy of that beta if possible for the abit beta repository carried on from the old abit forum but now at the Raptor Pit..

At that sort of price, I wouldn't buy a P35, Abit or not. The Asrock P45TurboTwins2000 is basically an ASUS P5Q for £70.

Don't be put off by the fact that it's ASRock. They are ASUS' budget brand and they are rock-solid boards at bargain prices and best of all, you don't have to deal with ASUS for support.
