Evolution question...

Woah hold on there. Micro evolution certainly happens, we have seen it. But as far as I know we have not seen a jump from one species to another. Until then it certainly stays in the theory category. although99.9% probable.

The attempt to differentiate between microevolution and macroevolution is considered to have no scientific basis by any mainstream scientific organization

I would have to disagree. The step to more chromosomes and a new species is very important.

The quote isn't from the link. The link answers another point. I'm not a scientist though, just something to think about.

That makes more sense.
But I don't see how scientists say it's not important. I can see how they say it's the same thing. As it is. But when we see it it will be a major thing.

with loads of microevolution wont you eventually get so far from what you started as that you'd have "macroevolved" to a erm time travelling onlooker...

At this stage of human evolution I can't possibley imagine us becoming anymore advanced than we are, Natural selection is one of the best forms of evolving a species, slowest get killed and eaten, hence the faster/stronger/more intelligent breed together causing stronger offspring etc.

Humans have no natural selection, the benifits system sees that the poor/stupid/weaker gene pool is far out breeding the smarter/stronger gene pool (16 year olds with 3 kids from different fathers, all of whom will never work and start the cycle again). While people with high powered careers or scientists leading their fields cannot find the time to have familys.

Humans are slowly becoming more stupid, no natural selection, medicines to reduce the effects of diseases/genetic impuritys are available leading to these people passing on the abnormalitys to offspring etc.

All this just leads to the human race becoming weaker as it becomes technologically weaker, Im guessing it will get to a stage where this is purely unsustainable :P

Sounds like the plot to Idiocracy.

 the race may get genetically weaker, but it will be compensated by technology. We wont get technologically weaker, that will increase.

Genetic engineering and gene therapy will fix any problems in the human genome and in the future improve the genome with features like immortality and cancer resistance. Hopefully improved awareness about genetics will prevent people from passing on genetic diseases like downs syndrome and cystic fibrosis via artifical selection.

Not if we are bred into stupidity and theres no one left with the ability to design new forms of technology!

I'm glad im not the only one who liked the film :P Although I can actually see this happening :P

Except of course we are now at the point where we can artifically change our genetics. so as time goes on we won't have to deal with very very hit and miss random mutaions, and hope for the best but have calculated and designed improvements, and so leave species stil lbound by evolution in our dust.

Humans are slowly becoming more stupid,

No they arn't.
