Ok, so we havnt won a trophy in nearly 50 years, our trophy cabinet looks like a homer simpson salt & pepper rack, but...

1) we have the most passionate fans in the prem league
2) a massive stadium
3) the premier league top goal scorer ever in shearer
4) in 3 seasons running we finished 3rd,4th and 5th
5) teams like man utd, liverpool and arsenal were scared to play us in the 80's and 90's (chelsea were not big four then), we were the entertainers with the likes of ferdinand, ginola, beardsley, asprilla and i can go on.
7) we have the most feirce derby matches in sunderland, and boro too
8) people forget man utd chased us in the league back in the days

Ok, so maybe the time has passed, robson should never of got sacked, ashley & wise & kinnear shouldnt of been involved with the club, our messiah KK should not of been treat the way he was, but...

we are now classed as a small club, if man utd or any of the other so called big four pick up an injury or two, its dire-straights, we played the other week with 7 first teamers missing and we dont get a mention.

sky sports always go on about can villa break into the top four, we've been there done that, do we get a mention?!

If anybody talks about ginola being a fantastic player back in the days, they only mention his time at spurs, we introduced him to the premier league!

Why is it the well spoken man mark pratt hughes and judas harry redknapp always on sky sports?

We may be a small club based on trophies, but with the history this great club has, along with its fan base it gives no one the right to say we are small. Its in a mess like it always is, been a toon fan is a headache, but we are not associated with the likes of man city who cant even fill there ground, we are not like spurs who think they are the best, the fact is the best teams in the league over the last 15 years have been:

1) man utd
2) liverpool
3) newcastle
4) arsenal
5) everton
6) blackburn
7) aston villa
8) west ham
9) spurs

people look at our club and base us on what they see now, we didnt spring up over night, we are a big club and have always been, it annoys me when people say otherwise. because when they do, they obviously forgot about how good we used to be, we could dance around the likes of man utd, now the players and the team are too scared. football is ruined for me down to the crazy amounts of money spread around.

and well done man city, all that money and no kaka, messi, benzema, ribery or david villa! im sad to see shay leave, but it gives the loyal harper a run in who for me should educate a lot of so called professionals of what football should be about, loyalty and not money.

am i ranting? :D:D:D

championship here we come :(:(

People were scared of you in the 80's and 90's, you having a laugh son?

You only came up in the early 90's.And Liverpool were never scared of playing, we actually liked playing you;)

You are a club with great fans, no doubt, but thats nothing if you have nothing to show for it,thats nothing, zero, nada, nowt.Nobody cares about derbies in the NE. Ypu ave been mentioned quite a lot this season, one of the perks of being pretty rubbish all season, dont blame the media or the other supporters, blame your own inept players and manaement team, you've spent enough to be better than you are.

You what? Based on what exactly? Overall points tally in the league only or something ridiculous? Are we ignoring the amount of teams that have won more trophies than you in the past 15 years? Why are Chelsea nowhere on that list? They were still a decent Premiership side pre-Abramovich.

This is an ace thread. Your team has been on the decline and has been for many, many years. The only thing that makes you a big club any more is a big stadium that's usually pretty full.

i base that list because they were exciting times of football, liverpool man utd, arsenal and the toon were always great matches.

its all ruined now, i totally agree our players are not worth there salt, a board room unable to manage a sunday league team let alone a premier league team.

maybe releagtion is the wake up call the club needs

...probably because nobody cares what NUFC used to be lol

have you ever been to the north east to understand what we are all about?

out of interest who do you all support?

and i only base my facts on what i saw and remember, the good times when we were thrashing the likes of man utd, and entertaining end to end games with liverpool.

Oh dear,

We are not a big club anymore.. simple as, we need to focus on being regularly in the top10 and then move forward again, what we were good for 3season in the 90s... Sir Bobby took us up to 3rd in recent times but other than than we have done absolutely nothing. The negatives far outweigh the few positives..

So a lot of newcastle fans need to get real. Our best player for the last 10year has left to goto Man City, that shows you where we are in the pecking order of the premier league

God, we'll have the Spurs fans in 'ere soon:p

liverpool althout far more succesful carry the same kind of passion for there team as us, what we were close to being is so far gone now, even shearer doesnt want to be part of it and who can blame him, rat boy trotter wise at the club who does **** all, a crap manager in joke'innear, our good players like milner leaving, its a sham.

its so uplifting when you see teams like stoke and hull come up and play like footballers should, i think there should be wage caps on all players, no player is worth more then £10,000 a week or £1 million in transfers if you ask me (shearer was though, but he was coming home so he doesnt count ;) )

Its why i also follow my near counterparts darlo and hartlepool, just not sunderland or boro :D

Fully star any swearing

They amount of money you have spent you should be a big club, cant think of a club ruined more by chairmen over such a long time. You have blown many a chances and money, you have lost what it means to be a football club, you are in limbo. I think you would be happier in the Championship watching a decent team playing decent football.
