well we seem to be streamlining everything in our lives but what about eating?

how long do you think we will wait to see all our food in pill form ?

you see it in sci fi films but i can see it happening in twenty years maybe.

what are your thoughts on this and how long if ever do you guess it will take to make this change/move from how we eat now.

When I was walking around the supermarket the other day I remarked on how much ready made crap there was compared to proper food.
Grated cheese in bags, Diced fruit I mean are people really that lazy or are they that busy they haven't the time to grate there cheese or dice there fruit :p
Untold ready meals of varying quality mixed in with other ready made crap every where, It wouldn't surpirse me if people started taking pills as they quite clearly don't give two ***** about what they are eating :(

I live to eat, not eat to live. None of your Soylent Green for me thanks.

You eat to live.
But I don't see it happening because I also like to enjoy what I eat.

It is clear from the high obesity rates than many people enjoy eating a great deal! I wouldn't mind occasional meal replacement "pills" if I couldn't be bothered to cook or couldn't for some reason, but certainly not all the time.

i think all the chemicals in those ready made foods make them quite addictive sometimes !

just like greggs and theyre crack laced sausage rolls

It will never happen.

You still need roughage in the form of fruit/veg/ insoluble and soluble fibres to help digestion and keep the intestines flowing. If this doesn't happen - it creates no end of problems (cancers, blockages, gas, IBS etc)

Unless the human race evolves enough not to need a digestive tract - we will always need food - and a handfull of pills are not going to compete with a proper meal anytime soon - even if they manage to get enough fibre compressed into a pill small enough to swallow (but then you have the small problem of having to drink 500ml of water along with it....... which might get a bit tedious over a few years)

It will also cause serious problems for your teeth & surrounding glands / upper digestive tract and stomach & will eventually lead to you as a human probably not being able to produce saliva or to swallow anything - and your upper digestive tract needs to be stimulated regularly & is there for a reason.

everything gets refined streamlined to make it quicker , easier to do. to be honest i cant think of many things that havent.

just because you enjoy eating doesnt mean that it wont change.

Given that 2000 calories (assuming 20% protein, 30% fat and 50% carbs) weighs almost a pound I really wouldn't like to try and take that in pill form!
